Bank is still engaging in games to maximize overdraft fees. Hit me for $70 because they timed my deposit after the payment. Don't bother calling customer service - they "don't have the ability" to rescind such fees. Apparently you have to go in to the branch. The whole switch from Wachovia to Wells Fargo, which I didn't choose, has been a nightmare - there is a real rudeness about the WF people that you didn't get from Wachovia.

Choose a different bank or credit union!

Confirm that funds are available for pending Bill Pay payments; funds will be withdrawn from your account earlier.To ensure that your pending payments are processed successfully at Wells Fargo, please sign on at wellsfargo.com on the Monday after your accounts convert and double-check to be sure youll have sufficient funds available for each payment. Please note that funds will be withdrawn from your account 1 to 5 days earlier than they were at Wachovia. For more information, see the Bill Pay page.

..and I left because I did not like the policies. However a good friend of mine told me that her Wachovia account is being taken over by Wells Fargo and they informed her to watch for overdraft fees since they post charges up to 5 days earlier then Wachovia did.

Personally I think this is better for many people since many tend to not keep accurate track and are hit by surprise when the online account says "available" balance, but the bank knows darn well that a charge will be posting days before it is posted, but when it does post it will be dated days earlier to maximize the chance of charging a fee or fees. ( I consider this as encouraging overdrafts, and can't say I blame the bank, they make a killing off these fees).. Common tactic to take advantage of those who trust the bank statements as was promoted by the bank to begin with and promised this was a "safe, convenient" way to "manage" the account... and those that keep a low balance are the prime targets... (think poor, elderly, student and the like)

Bottom line..make sure any deposit has cleared before spending against it or you are asking for trouble with any bank.

You left out a lot of details that may explain quite a bit on how you think Wells Fargo "timed" your deposit after "the" payment?

What time/date did you make the deposit and what was the method?

What time/date did you make they payment, how was the payment made?

according to at least one article available on the web.

Anyone can 'Google' this- BANK EXECUTIVES PROFITING ON THE DEATH OF EMPLOYEES, and read the article that says Wells Fargo has $17 Billion in these 'secret life insurance policies' on its employees, right?

Then 'Google' this- WELLS FARGO COMPLAINTS SECRET LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES, and read that article on the web too.

Heck, you can stay at this website and type in 411913 and read Ripoff Report #411913 about these 'secret life insurance policies' also.
