I financed a vehicle from Robke Cheverolet in April of 2005. Everything was fine and payments were made on time. In August of the same year I refinanced the vehicle and the total bill was around 19000.00. That same month I lost my job and tried to call them and work something out and it just wasn't happening. I had a co-signer on the car which at that point filed bankruptcy and in November of 2005 I was in a bad car accident.

My insurance company cut Wells Fargo a check for 13000.00 leaving a balance of 6000.00 which I had GAP insurance to cover. I assumed that when they told me everything was taken care of that I had nothing left to do with this car.

Three weeks ago on July 8, 2007 Wells Fargo contacted me after I had noticed they were still on my credit and called them. They explained to me that since my co-signer had filed bankruptcy (after the check was cut to them from my primary insurance carrier) that this account had been stuck in their bankruptcy department.

Also they hadn't filed a claim with GAP insurance and now had an outstanding balance of 7600.00 in their office. They offered to settle it for 5500.00 and I informed them that they weren't getting a dime from me. That is the reason I purchased the GAP insurance.

One little p***k I talked to said that since I work in collections I should know the bankruptcy laws and I should know I have debt out there. I told him not when I was told by one of his associates that there would be a claim filed with GAP.

I am currently working with a person in their GAP department at Wells Fargo but I don't see that getting resolved after they waited for almost 2 YEARS to contact me and let me know the claim hadn't been filed. I have also filed a complaint against the main Wells Fargo Bank with the BBB because this is utterly rediculous and I am tired of being tossed from agent to agent.

If I don't reach a resolution with the BBB or Wells Fargo I am going to consult an attorney and turn this over to the local news stations so that others aren't put in the same position I was.

WARNING: IF THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN GET FINANCING IS THROUGH WELLS FARGO I WOULD JUST SAVE THE MONEY TO PURCHASE WHAT YOU WANT BECAUSE WHEN YOU FINANCE THROUGH THIS COMPANY YOU GET WAY MORE THAN YOU BARGAIN FOR.
