In late April, I submitted an application for a preapproved loan via telephone to Wells Fargo - I had just sold my house, made a handsome profit, and was going to buy another(with 20% down nonetheless.)

While on the phone, I was very frank and honest about my credit report and history, since the initial Wells Fargo rep to whom I spoke told me they could not generate credit reports because their system was having problems. In fact, she called me later to go over all the points on my credit report (I had a copy) and MANUALLY write it down so she could submit to wherever it goes from her (the "system" was completely down at that point, she told me.)

While speaking with the rep, I did specifically ask about the $340 loan application fee and WAS NOT TOLD IT WAS UNREFUNDABLE. Yet I was encouraged to pay the fee, that everything would be "fine."

Other than 2 emails from another specialist, Ashika Campbell, telling me my application was "with the underwriters," I have heard NOTHING (no rejection, no preapproval, no disclosure packet - NADA) from Wells Fargo Home Mortage and I doubt that anything at all has been done with my loan application. I was able to get with another lender 2 weeks ago who not only accommodated me after Wells Fargo's lack of responsiveness and service, but preapproved me for a loan in less than a day without an application fee. They even gave me a preapprove letter so I could buy my house!

I followed up with Ashika via email and told her that I couldn't wait any longer for them, and rather than try to save me as a customer, she just curtly responded she'd cancel my loan application. When I asked about the $340 (via email), I then found out from her it was unrefundable.

I requested (via email to her) a copy of the loan application w/ my signature (there isn't one - they never sent me anything,) a copy of the recording of the first person to whom I gave my information over the phone which will prove I wasn't told, and also a supervisor's name so I could escalate and resolve the situation. I got NOTHING. I still have NOTHING from her and it's been a week and half.

Due to the non responsiveness of Wells Fargo staff, I wish for my loan application fee to be refunded. It is apparant Wells Fargo is not serious about processing my application, and I doubt anyone has even touched it.

Look up the ACORN non-profit housing advocate site on the internet.

Wells Fargo is listed as a predatory lender. ACORN organized a protest against Wells Fargo on May 7, 2003.

They might be able to help you recover your fee.

Good luck!

Evidently, the person who first took my application over the phone had to write the info down, and input it into the system later - lo and behold, she substituted my address for someone else's. So as I said, I never rec'd anything, and the Manager who called me was highly apologetic about the whole thing, and can't understand why someone didn't check the address. (Hmm, ME TOO especially when I spelled it out in email for "Ashika.") I reminded her that when you're an existing WF customer, you have to GIVE THEM your existing loan number, which probably would have told them soon enough had they bothered to check.

Ripoff Report, thanks for letting me post here! I don't know if anything occurred on your end to motivate this along other than allowing me to post it, and if you did DOUBLE THANKS :)
