I'm so burned out on wells fargo and their business conduct. i finally decided to write one of these reports. My first complaint is their website that lets you check your balance, but often fails to list transactions; and then site will credit to your account and show up sometimes a week later. As i checked my account yesterday and had $5, went to the store bought a 6 pack for $4 thinking i was safe, WRONG! today i checked my account and have negative $38 because a $6 dollar charge from 8 days ago magically appear in my recent transactions.

My second complaint is Wells Fargo's overdraft fees. I get charged 34 dollars per transaction as well as a running 10 dollars for everyday its not paid. After reading up on their policy, after the first time you ever overdraft, they will hold checks and not deposit them my account for sometime up to 5 business days. SO one time i had 3 overdraft fees for a total of $102, and a running fee of $10. So i called my mother from college and asked her to make a deposit for me. She deposited the check to a teller on a monday afternoon, the check wasn't credited to my account until friday, and the running $10 fee was continuing to be charged to my account every day. So i decided the next time this happens i had my mother pay a teller in CASH thinking they would have to credit to money to my account on the spot, WRONG again! they didn't credit the CASH to my account for 2 business days, the deposit was made on a tuesday at 1 PM, and wasn't credited to my account until thursday..........

Oh and one more note on overdraft fees, you can get overdraft protection if you have a wells fargo credit card, i signed up for it, and this last time i still had overdraft fees. I went in to ask about it, they "lost" the form i signed allowing them to make overdraft protection deposits, and told me i never signed up for it.

Are other banks this horrible?

check registers

If this pertains to using your credit/debit card or even a check, remember: All banks will be glad to provide you with a transaction register. Marking all your transactions will help save time and money for both you and the Bank you are with.

When you order a box of checks or receive a check card from your bank, you should ask for a transaction register (one usually comes with your box of checks). Try using that. When transactions appear/disappear, that means that it appeared at first, as an authorization, dissappeared, and then re-appeared as the official post. Through out this time, you should have marked in your transaction register, the transaction(s) in question. This will help you determine your real balance. Live transactions posted by Banks are there to help you see what clears or what has posted as a pending transaction (i.e. direct deposits, debits, etc.).

Have a good day,

Hopefully this will help resolve your problem.

Overdrafts

#3UPDATE Employee

Sat, April 05, 2008

First, cash is credited the same day it is deposited. This is a federal law.

Second, holds are placed to prevent the bank from taking a loss. We have the right to do this for any amount over $100 if there are repeated overdrafts, it is a new account, it is out of the FRB region, or we have reasonable suspision that it will be returned unpaid.

Third, it is not the banks job to balance your check book. When you first use your check card an amount is authorized to you account. IT IS NOT A FINAL PAYMENT (thus the pending status on your account). If the company that you paid changes the amount originally authorized when they batch the transaction our of their system, Wells Fargo has no other choice than pay them that amount unless you tell us different.

Banks take a huge loss on checking accounts ($14,000,000,000.00 on the pacific states ALONE). Overdraft fees are one of the only ways be balance this loss.

If you ask nicely, most of the time your branch will reverse all, if not all, of these fees unless you are a repeat offender.
