Complaint Review: Visa

Wells Fargo Visa Gift Card Don't give Visa gift cards . . . Balance evaporates

I realize now, my nine year old should have been more rip-off savvy and a reckless immediate spender vs. a saver. What a disappointment to find that gift cards he received his last birthday are now worthless, following months of a $2.50 fee deducted EACH month.

He had been saving for over a year for a video game system and finally, with Christmas gift cards and months of allowance, he had enough saved. Now we find there's no balance because it's been eaten away with monthly fees. Talk about a bummer for a kid who's worked hard, sacrificed and saved.

Yes, shame on me for not reading the fine print on the back of the gift cards when he received them. I will have the money come out of my pocket rather than have him be punished for being a diligent saver, since that's something I want to encourage.

I will never buy a Visa gift card and will be sending an email to everyone in my address book about this so their kids aren't disappointed months from now and so they don't buy these either.

Same for All Access Gift Visa Cards by InterNational Bank

Same thing with All Access gift cards, except they charge $2.95/month! I hate to think of the kids who received Visa gift cards for Christmas and will begin saving for something special only to be disappointed when they go to spend them.

Spread the word--Visa gift cards are a total rip off. Do not give them; if you receive one, spend it ASAP before the money dries up. Sure, it might be legal and in the fine print, but kids--heck, anyone--should not be victims of these unscrupulous "gifts."
