Complaint Review: West Coast Moving and Storage

Ok - so where shall I begin. Bottom line is don't use these clowns - they are fraudster thieves that will either lose or break your stuff, make you wait an ridiculous amount of time, and make you move your own stuff, charge more than double their original quote in extra fees, and yell at you if you questions them.

So, they quoted me $1300 to move my stuff 1100 miles. A gave a 10-day guarantee. Well, over three weeks later, and more than double my original estimate did I finally have my stuff.

They don't call you in advance to let you know of arrival, so when they do arrive, you basically have to drop everything. Then they used an insanely large and half empty freight truck to haul your stuff, just so they can charge a $650 shuttle fee to move you stuff from the large truck to a smaller one to fit down smaller streets. Then they charge $75 for stairs - even though they advertise the first flight is free - but according to them, one flight is only 8 steps. They also charge extra for "long" carries over 75ft.

Well - when my stuff arrived to my destination, I refused to pay for the shuttle fee, and the driver informed me that the workers (other movers) refused to come move my stuff because I lived on a second story. So, basically, with the help of some random nice guys in my apartment, and the driver of the truck, had to move everything myself.

My stuff was damaged, broken, clipped, shredded, and some of it even missing. The boxes looked they had been to Hates and back.

And, to top it off, I called the owner of the company to complain - and his exact words were, "obviously you haven't moved around so much - it could have been worse." HAHA. It could have been worse - they should use that as their marketing slogan. Then he yelled at me, because he said he couldn't understand the gravity to which I was upset because i had to move by own stuff. HAHAHA. Again, if I wanted to move my own stuff, I would not have paid them to do it for me.

So to recap, definitely do yourselves a favor and find another moving company. They'll charge you all these extra fees which will total even more than what a bigger brand name would have charged. Plus they'll either ruin or lose your stuff, and if and when it actually arrives - you'll wind up having to move it yourself.

I filed a report with the BBB on these clowns. I hope they are taken down - companies like this that deliberately try to take advantage of customers should be out of business. Despicable.
