Showed up today at the Allendale location with a 10 oz Engelhard .999 Silver bar I had not yet made it know to the employee though that I had anything with me. Then after the employee told me the prices on the wall were for Sterling .925 Silver at $0.85 per gram he made a phone call then gave me a horrible offer of $250.00 that is below the price advertised for .925. How can you run a business offering a customer less money than advertised when the Silver they are selling is more pure than sterling silver. Use common sense guy if a person owns a 10 ounce bar they probably know a thing or two the Silver market don't you think?!?!?! The employee did not even know what a EngelHard was and told me it is just scrap silver even though it is stamped 10 troy oz .9999 pure fine silver and anyone in the business of buying and selling gold and silver should know that EngelHard now know as Johnson Matthey guarantees their product making it more attractive to buyers.

A few minutes after I left I called the man to simply inform him if he realized that After telling me the prices advertised are for sterling silver and that I would receive more than the advertised price he then told me he would only give me 250.00 (at the time of the offer spot was at 31.80) Even the "lower sterling price" would have given me more money. I just cannot understand where he got his logic from. After I asked him why he gave me such a low price he said it was because I came of as...... "he could not finish his sentence" then started yelling at me over the phone telling me I do not know what I was talking about and told me that if I do not like it to not go there. I plan on NEVER going back, I also was not expecting to get paid spot price either for it I know he is in business and needs to make money. BUT you cannot have an advertised price posted on the wall then tell the customer that .999 silver pays more and then try and pay LOWER than BOTH. I also feel even worse about all the people that show up there and dont know what they have, or have no knowledge of precious metals market and just get RIP'd OFF there are no such things as an $8.00 PER OUNCE premium on Silver Bullion. I think it's rediculous for you to expect them to pay MORE than the price they advertise and then have the nerve to complain and insult them when they don't.  If you didn't like their offer, you should have just moved on to the next place.

No matter what price they had advertised for sterling. Do you honestly think that $250 is a good price to offer for a 10 troy ounce Englehard Bar 99.999 % pure Silver??? Maybe your really desperate and will settle for anything but that is not a fair price anywhere they could sell that and would get an easy $110.00 profit I was would have sold it.

Man I was just in there 2 days ago, I sold silver and i can tell you their posted price was for 47 cents a gram!  That's what I got and i was happy to get it.  It was the best price I had been offered and I checked 3 places on my way home from G.R.  I don't know where you came up with .85 cents but there's NO WAY they could make any money paying 85 cents on scrap silver when spot is only $1 per gram. Even I know they have refinery fees and they have to have a markup to make a living. If he offered you $250 and the posted price is 47 cents a gram then you need to redo your math and give that man an apology because $250 for 10 ounces is WAY more that 47 cents a gram.  Anyway, sorry you had a bad experience in there, I love the place and I'm glad to see them in town.  But I gotta say, if you acted in the store, the way you sound on here.  I'm sure they won't miss you if you never go back!  LOL
