westcoastconnection hires incompetent staff members to take care of children. I worked as their food director on our teen tour summer of 2005 and several female campers reported to me that a male counselor entered their hotel room and would not leave. The girls were afraid that the male staff was in their room because one of the girls was changing.

Throughout the rest of the trip, I had multiple complaints against this male staff and reported to the company and owner right away but they did not do anything about it. The girls continued to fear and some cried. At the end of the tour, the tour director told all the campers that I made these stories up.

After the trip ended, I continue to do research on how I could file complaints. I called child protective service in several areas. I wrote a letter to Westcoast Connection stating that under any circumstance when I am employed, I must report any suspecious activity. In my research I found that if I am employed by a camp to work with children and I suspect unusual activity and do not report, I will be prosecuted. That is not my concern. My main concern was for the children to be safe. The fact that they cried and complained numerous times was already enough for me to file a report against the company. Not one person from this organization handled this situation appropriately.

The respones I received from Westcoast Connection was that "it happens all the time, so what?" To me, that means that male counselors over 18 years of age enter young girls' personal area and hotel rooms under 18 years of age to perform unusual activities and they claim that is normal.

There needs to be heavy investigation on Westcoast Connection because in summer of 2004, I called the cops on the owner of a summer camp who entered a vehicle while three young girls were changing and the owner was later found a registered sex offender and now in jail.

Westcoast Connection is a teen tour program and hire many staff members. I am afraid that there is no supervision except of these staff members on every trip and many things happen unsupervised of at least no one has ever filed a report because many have commited crimes.

This is a special case although if parents were to find out that their children are being supervised by child abusers, sex offenders, or inappropriate staff members, the parents would not only file law suits and will experience the biggest rip-off.

Lastly, the children still call me and tell me this male staff still contacts them, he is about 22 or 23 and these girls are 14 and 15. This male staff is still employed by Westcoast Connection to work as a summer camp counselor. Please notify these parents of their children being at harm and danger. Westcoast Connection also allows children to view X-rated version and R-rated movies with lots of sexual content. These are 13-15 year old children watching these movies. I am sure most of these parents do not know this.
