Western Digital 120GB Hard Drive Rebate Ripoff Lake Forest California
I purchased a 120GB Western Digital hard drive from Fry's Electronics in Woodland Hills, CA with a $50 mfg rebate offer. I very carefully assembled the rebate required documentation and dropped it in the mail the next morning.
Now they are telling me that unfortunately my purchase was not made within the time of the promotional offering and they cannot honor my rebate. This is completely false - I read the dates very carefully before and after my purchase. Fortunately, I have not installed the drive yet and have the original receipt, so I can just return the drive and buy a Maxtor or something (just not a WDC) from CompUSA or Best Buy. Western Digital will not be getting another dollar from me - ever.

Its a shame that we have been turned into a "rebate" or "special offer" monger society.
Why cant a price be CLEARLY a price???
Think of all the hassle this causes for everybody, you,-the consumer, the store, and the "rebate house". And who really pays the price for all of this?
Maybe someday the days of the "rebate" and "coupon" will end...
