I was referred to Westgate by a friend who claimed that it was so great. It was supposed to be a 90 min presentation it wind up being 5 hours long. After feeling obligated by a little nice old salesman and his fast talking manager we purchased Got home and now have changed our minds. I am going to write 2morrow to cancel hope all goes well with canceling.

I'm glad they have a paper for you to fill out because I tried that route and they told me it comes out automatically. There aren't any papers to sign and if you want to opt out of it, you have to contact the 401k company themselves and have them stop it. Trust me, the whole HR thing didn't work.

Just a bit of a comment to the poster above on the 401K. You can opt out of the 401K plan...it is a simple paper you sign and turn into HR at annual enrollment stating that you do not want this. If you don't turn it in then they do take 1% or 2% out of your check but the company also matches it as well so they are actually giving you money. It's funny how a person can turn anything around to make it sound bad.

WGR is a good company, like any it is going to have people who do not like it and people who love it. You going to have employees who love working there and then the others who are only there for a paycheck.

Thanks for reading.

Westgate Resorts Employee Inside Info

First of all I'm not here to tell you just bad stuff about Westgate. They can be a great company if you invest smart and read " EVERYTHING " they give you if you buy from them. Unfortunately some of the stories you read on this website is just from people " not listening " to everything they are told and not reading everything they are given. Anyway, I'm here to tell you an inside opinion. I have been working for Westgate Resorts for about a while now. I know most of what goes on around the corporate call center.

First I have to say that if you do not work in sales for this company then you really don't mean much to them. They could care less about everyone else. In fact, at Christmas they had this really big raffle and only sales was allowed to attend. They were giving away motorized hummers for kids, dinnerware sets, even cash. My department ( because we are not part of sales ) got salt n pepper shakers, coffee mugs, and sandwich grillers. That was thoughtful of them. I also found out about 6 months ago that after 1 year of service they automatically enroll you for a 401k plan and start taking money out of your check without your permission. Whether you want it or not you are getting it. Then you don't get it back til after you leave their company. I was furious. That is something that I am looking into with the Labor Board though. I guess they get their money any way they can.

Being an owner with Westgate has its advanages and disadvantages. It all depends on how much money you are willing to spend. If you buy a high season then you will get what you want 95% of the time. If you buy a low season then you will get what you want 30% of the time. The sad part is sales doesn't tell you if you are buying the high or the low season so when you call in to make your reservations, that's when you find out if you will have any additional fees. Those fees could be anywhere between $130 to $3125.00. That's crazy. You have already put so much money in to this and now they hit you with the extra fees for going out of your season. I answer the phones everyday so I know what your complaints are and I truely feel bad even asking for or telling you about the fee ( unless it is the minor exchange fee which comes with all timeshare companies ), but that comes with the job. Unfortunately I gotta eat and right now the job market isn't that great here so I'm dealing with it for now.

Please BE WARE before buying into this company. Don't get me wrong, they have some " REALLY " beautiful resorts. They really are top quality but make sure you are getting something that you will be able to use. Make sure you have a high quality week. They tell you in the sales presentation that it is now or never, but trust me that isn't true. If you come back after researching to make sure it would be something you would be pleased with, they ain't going to turn down your money. Like I said earlier, it has it's advantages and disadvantages. Just make sure it is something that you will come out on the winning side and have fun using. If a salesman offers you something, make sure it is in writing and you see it in your contract before you sign it. Also, remember you do have a 10 day recission period they " FAIL " to tell you about. All I can say to all of you out there that are potential buyers, is make a smart choice. Don't base the company or any company solely on what you read here, but see it for yourself. Make sure you listen to what they are telling you. Take notes and read everything they give you. Then make your decision. As tough as these saleman are you can tell them I will think about it and if you like you will let them know. They will not turn you away just because you said no the first time. They are aggressive for one reason and one reason only. THEY DON'T GET PAID IF YOU DON'T BUY. They work on commission only. That's why they are fast talkers and seem to have the answer for everything, even if they are just making it up. You have to research yourself. Don't depend on them to tell you everything because truely there just isn't enough time to tell you everything. That's why 90 minutes turns into 5 or 6 hours. There is so much to know before you buy.

I will eventually buy a timeshare as I think it is a great way to travel, but thanks to working for this company I know what to look for. I don't know if I will buy from Westgate, but I will buy and know what I'm buying.
