I went to stay at Westgate Resorts in April of 2005. I had to attend a 90 minutes presentation and have an income of over $40,000 to qualify. My stay was for 3 or 4 nights for between $200 and $230 for the entire time period. I paid for the entire amount on my credit card. I qualified on both counts.

I went on the timeshare presentation and refuse to purchase a timeshare and the salesperson became upset and stated that I wasted his time. He brought in his manager to try and pressure me even more and I still refused. He then stated that I was free to go. I continued my vacation.

On today, August 15, 2005, I checked my bank statement an it showed that I was charged $400 by Westgate. I contacted them and they told me that I owe them $400 because I did not qualify because my income was only $32,000. I informed them that that was not true and sent them several months of my check stubs including the month of April 2005. They still refuse to return my $400.

I contacted my bank and they are investigating, but I do not know what trick Westgate has up its sleeve. Anyone else had this problem with Westgate, please let me know immediately.

Westgate Ripoff Victims - Don't Give Up The Fight

#4Consumer Comment

Candy you and others must continue your fight to get your money back. Write a detailed complaint to the attorney general of the state of the Westgate Resort you are having problems with. Then write the same detailed complaint of each and every minute detail and file with attorney general in florida. These offices exist to investigate consumer fraud. The actions of Westgate employees qualify as consumer fraud. I will not give up until my husband and I receive full compensation - and should it go on too long, we will ask for more. Have an appointment with an attorney in Orlando who has dealt with Westgate before. We will not give up - we will be hiring private investigators in the very near future. We will recoup our losses. This you can take to the bank.

I just submitted practically the same report as yours Candy. I experienced the same thing. I payed for the vacation up front in Feb, went to visit on July 12-17, and on Aug 15, Westgate withdrew $300.00 from my account. I was highly upset. I've been on the phone half of the day trying with many customer service representatives with no luck of speaking with the manager. I called the corporate office with no luck. They just referred me back to the 800 number. All i can get now is that the matter will be further investigated. The representative told me that I didn't qualify for the promotional price so they charged me 300.00.. Due to my age/income. I offered to send a copy of my license and tax return proving my age and income. At that time she said that was not necessary. Then she went on to ask if i did the tour. I did meet with the sales rep however, i told him up front that i didn't have the money to invest. At that time he told me that he appreciated my honesty and didn't want to waste my time nor his and that i was free to go. This company is a complete rip off. I'm not going to stop with them until i get my money back. I hope you do the same.. Whatever it takes!

Florida Attorney General, is going to be running for governor he would make sure his office does a more review of each and every complaint

I would suggest you contact the attorney general in florida - and if they give your complaint the brushoff - please follow up with your disappointment in the unwillingness to investigate. I would think that since Charlie Crist, Florida Attorney General, is going to be running for governor he would make sure his office does a more review of each and every complaint - unlike the few seconds review my complaint received. Fla Attorney General's rep was absolutely no help at all and seemed put out that she had to spend a few seconds on the phone with me. Everyone needs to be more vocal and not let this issue die until a consumer satisfaction is reached. And Westgate and its agents penalized.
