My phone number is on file, but they've decided to email instead. Although I was in default by 30days they could have still reached me by phone knowing the situation everyone is in ( Covid-19). I've called westlake financial to sort payment arrangements, they took my payment and still repossess the vehicle.
I logged in online 2days after to view payment history and realize nothing was posted and updated to my account.
Now I'm out of a vehicle.

An auto loan is your 2nd biggest expense per month next to housing, it does not change in amount or due date.  So you would know if you were late or going to be late. YOU should have been proactive and let them know. There is NO reason they should be the ones responsible for reaching out to you by ANY method, any communication by them is really just a courtesy. The pandemic was a nice reason for a couple of months but now it is just excuse people come up with to try and blame someone else.

You can see report after report on this site complain that some company tries to call them when they have their e-mail address on file.  Who is to say that they didn't try to call you.  It was very likely from a number you don't recongnize, and probably wouldn't identify the company name.

What guarantee do they have that you would have been any more responsive by phone than you were by e-mail?  Your word? Is that the same word you gave them when you said you would make every payment on-time?

The fact is you gambled by waiting until the absolute last day you could and now because of that you are paying the price. You made a payment on the 4th, it can take 2-3 business days for a payment to actually "post" to your account. A company may also not be able to stop a repo that quickly if you were already scheduled.

What did they say when you called them after your car was reposessed?
