Complaint Review:
Wet-X llc
Fair warning about using Wet-X duct cleaning, it’s a classic scam!
I allowed their company in my home to have a standard duct cleaning preformed for $69.95. I was told that this would cover 10 vents 1 return and 1 main. Knowing that I have 15 vents 2 mains and 2 returns I knew that I would have to pay more. When the technicians arrived they began to start what they called the advertised special. About 20 minutes into the 30 minute process one of the technicians came to me and told me I had mold in my blower and motor area of my AC unit. I was informed that I need to have these cleaned and have 2 agents applied to kill the mold in my unit and my duct work. The technician also told me that I had dust mites and dust mite feces. My question to them was how did they see the MICROSCOPIC dust mites much less its poop? They went into much ado about how it would harm me amd the grandchildren were going to get sick and so on. Trying to scare me into purchasing their products and services.
After receiving a price of $1898.00 a drastic difference from $69.95 I wanted to kick them out of my home but I let them finish their pitch. I was told that the chemicals that they use are EPA approved which is true. I was also told that it will kill mold on contact and has a residual of up to 13 years but they would not guarantee that. The chemical they used is called Sporcidin and according to the web site it can be used in AC units but not on porous surfaces. If I am not mistaken the board material that is used in ducts is porous. To me this was strike one. The other chemical the mentioned I could not find any concrete material on to give you a fair synopsis; this was strike 2. When I spoke to the technician about the pricing and told him that it was way too pricey, so he called his manager and all of a sudden because I was a senior I received 10% off then because I had my grandchildren over all the time I received another 10% off and then he gave me another 10% off because I was retired military. So as you can see with one phone call I received 30% off but still I was not satisfied with their pitch and felt they were trying to pull the bait and switch. I ended up paying over a $150.00 dollars for a service that should have cost at the most $140.00. I felt duped and cheated and the sales pitch was strong and forceful and basically tried to scare you into buying there service.
Once they left my home I called another 2 companies to come and give me an estimate on the issues that Wet x reported. Both companies found that my blower and AC unit were to be in perfect working order and that I did have a little dust on the blower NO mold and that one of the companies cleaned it for free.
After researching the company Wet X and the manager it seems they go from state to state using the same type of scare tactics, then when the heat starts coming on strong they move.
Buyers beware! It looks that they have just moved from Georgia but cannot be for sure.
