Like Jon K of Hanover ON, I have been cheated by Wheels West of Langley, BC - out of $350.
I had dealt with them before with an effable guy named Brian. I paid over $2000 for my M3 tires and I received them. Then Brian left the company. In June 08, I dealt with Karla who was quite agreeable. I ordered two 528 snow tires. By now they would not take credit cards ostensibly because of fraud. So I sent them a money order for $350.
Karla acknowledged receipt of the money order but said the Michelins were sold out and offered Dunlops which I accepted. Then she said they had stock issues with snow tires in the summer. I waited till fall 08 to phone them. Karla was no longer there. I spoke with a guy who asked me to email all pertinent info. which I did but never heard back.
Then the company seemed to have disappeared. From Google I found that it had left behind a trail of defunct phone numbers and addresses.
Recently it re-surfaced but now its phone number is not toll free and it does not list its physical address. Its email address is still the same. The big surprise is that it is now listed on eBay.
I have phoned them but they have never answered the phone. I left messages without getting a reply. I faxed them and emailed them to no avail.
I intend to report them to the police. A Kingston woman was jailed for 8 days for scamming someone out of $80 on Kijiji for a pair of tickets to a rock concert.

Wheels West Tire of Langley BC made good

I do not know if it is just a coincidence. Two days after filing my report with you, I received an email from Wheels West requesting my PayPal account. They remitted $450 to my account - $100 more than what I had paid them. They did not have to do that. They were generous. It sounded like the company was undergoing a lot of changes and there was a backlog of issues to be resolved. I hope I can re-establish good relations with them.
Thank you for your help.
