Bought a Used CD Album from Wherehouse Music 6/28/02 around 3:30. The same day I had noticed that the CD contained a CD single, instead of the CD Album that didn't match.

I went back to the business the same day to report the mismatch and exchange for the same CD. Cashier agreed with me that when the company buys a Used CD they make sure that the CD and cover matched and that it is not right. I told him that it was not fair for their mistake and I would like my money refunded so I could buy the CD I want some where else. When he asked another employee, she automatically said No, without taking my explanation or looking at my receipt for consideration. She said that I bought the CD "A long time ago" (which was only several hours) and she couldn't not do anything.

I asked for company policy, which she didn't know. So I asked for it in writing, which she couldn't produce. I finally asked her for the Manager and her title. She answered Assistant Manager, and under her breath, in front of other co-workers and customers, said "So I don't have to deal with people like you".

Then her name was asked so I could report the matter to her Manager.

OK...Brosotaire, I'm with you when it comes to working for Wherehouse Music. It's a VERY COOL place to work, especially in the summertime. However, you didn't actually address the problem.

Brad, you are correct, sir. Exchange the product and make the customer happy. Unfortunately, you struck a few little nerves: (1)The "filing" had no bearing on the situation addressed and was better left unsaid. (2)The company policy does NOT "poo poo the idea of exchange." They want the customer to be happy when they leave so they'll come back. (3)Being in the retail music business for 10 years you should also know how to handle damaged product that was shipped to your store. If you're still with the company, you don't seem to want to be, and if you're not...good! Get smart or shut up.

It's "Customers First" at Wherehouse Music!!

Thanks for your time,

I have 10 years of retail music experience, and it all went to s**t after the Wherehouse took over. People told me long ago to jump from the sinking ship, but I loved working in a retail music store so much, that i could not be swayed. The fact that this is a very un-professional company in general could escape the likes of no one. You people have no idea. I mean come on they filed for chapter 11 twice now. The situation above could have been solved if the store manager would have just done a simple ex-change. But the company itself which poo poo's the idea of exchanges in the first place would rather teach the associates and managers to use lame excuses like you bought it a year ago (even though the reciept says otherwise) or how do i know that you didnt take it home and burn it and then try to bring it back. So i really cant help you anyway. I have seen the damaged and defective items that have been circulated and shipped to our stores with expectations of being sold again. That customer's situation from above is common. CD's and DVD's in the wrong case, scratched or missing discs, that stuff happens every day at the Wherehouse. But don't blame the workers, we are only pawns in their game we say and do what we have to do to collect the paycheck. I can only suggest that everyone buy there music and movies else where. At least then, you know what your paying for.

I want everyone to know that Wherehouse Music is a wonderful company and, even though my particular store was closed, I fully understand due to the recent ailments of the music retail industry. Wherehouse Music takes care of both its employees and its customers. I would not be surprised if it came out of the dark standing alone and proud as the only entertainment company.
