Whirlpool ice maker is terrible Benton Harbor MI
Purchased Model #WRS311SDHB fridge back in August. After waiting for 6 weeks in finally arrived. To my dismay, the ice maker makes on average 85 ice cubes a day. Why would I know that? Because Whirlpool's local service company rep that came out to look, said nothing was wrong, and that the ice maker makes 8 ice cubes an hour. So that would be 192 cubes a day, not 85. So for 3 days, I kept the count. Then I was advised to turn the temperature down to increase ice production, and then told that wouldn't work. They refuse to do anything, but tell me to schedule another appointment, but if that rep deems everything is fine I will have to pay for the service call. Their unwillingness to help or rectify this is apparent.

If you need more than 85 ice cubes in a day, you should buy a commercial grade ice maker. That is way more ice than anyone normally uses. And yes, turning down the temperature in the freezer would probably help. But a household refrigerator is simply not designed to make commercial quantities of ice.
