Whitewing Financial Aka CAMCO ripoff, scam artists Houston Texas
I read all the rip off reports on Whitewing Financial with great interest as this company is trying to collect on a debt that we do not owe going back to 1991. They say they have proof, but refuse to provide that proof. The first person we spoke with said it was for the purchase of an items, the second person said it was for a check that was sent in the mail and signed by my husband's ex-wife and so on. They can't even figure out what they are trying to collect for.
Personal information was obtained by them thru Trans Union (which they are a member of) and now they are calling us. We tried in vain to speak with someone who could provide proof, but were given round about answers. I contacted Trans Union, and was told that they could provide them with personal info as they were members of Trans Union. This company is trying to steal from us and ruin our good credit. I'm all for joining anyone who is going to persue a Class Action Suit against them.
Also, it would be in everyone's best interest to file a complaint directly with the FTC. I just did one, and the more complaints, the more apt the FTC is to look into this. The toll free number to file a complaint is: 877-382-4357
Don't let this company get away with this. Don't send them a dime...make them show proof...we're not guilty of trying to rip them off - they are guilty of trying to rip us off.

Whitewing Pays Fine to the FTC
#3Consumer Suggestion
Wed, April 07, 2004
I found a link regarding Whitewing having to pay a fine to the FTC.
I'd say that we should send as many complaints as possible to the FTC about this company.

Whitewing Financial calling for an erronous debt
#3Author of original report
Sat, March 20, 2004
Because I was getting tired of Whitewing calling for an erronous debt I contacted the Houston Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. They initiated an investigation and Whitewing responded with more lies! But on the other hand, it has supposedly stopped the phone calls until they can provide documentation.
What irks me though is that they claim that they cannot guarantee what the documentation is. They also rubutted that we had not cause to contact the BBB. Gee I wonder why not.
If you go to the Houston, TX BBB and type in Whitewing Financial you can see the number of complaints lodged against this company. They also claimed that this supposed debt was purchased from none other than CAMCO (one in the same company)! I would suggest to all that are being harrassed by Whitewing to do as I have and file a complaint to the FTC and also to the Houston BBB. Rather than ignoring them, take some action and file complaints. It's a really easy thing to do and the BBB does respond. As in an old movie (can't remember the name) "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Fight them with tooth and nail...dispute, dispute, dispute. Some action will eventually be taken but only if there is strength in numbers (all of us and future ones of us).
Hope this helps.
