For some reason Wikipedia has recently opted to allow advertisement links in their references section for the page NVR inc. Even though these are expressly prohibited for most other people by these guidelines from Wikipedia: Advertising or promotion of an individual, business, organization, group, or viewpoint unrelated to Wikipedia (such as commercial sites or
referral links)
Yet (as of this writing) the top five links in Wikipedia references proceed to inform readers why they should buy NVR products. This alteration on the site appears to be a widespread reputation repair initiated by NVR affiliates, as derogatory information is being buried throughout the WWW. NVR inc is being agressively protected, though it once had links to sites such as rip-off report until recently.
I may be wrong, but I just can see anything as encyclopedic when including information on where, how, and why I should buy products by linking to obvious advertisements as references, and calling them informational.

did you even read the advertising links?

To conclude my investment in this immovable ignorant bliss, on the aforementioned wiki page, the references 1- 5 are NVR created promotional info, that go well beyond just informational. They are not pure encyclopedic data.
If the editors lack the ability to discern the difference, thats their problem. The other three references on the page mentioned are to articles about things Joe Biden did on a ONE single issue. Two other Ryan Homes communities were experiencing the same issues at that time, who got no press and no settlement.
I did not say NVR writes press articles about Joe Biden. Their articles are always entirely promotional and unsigned. They are paid releases generally through the PRNewswire, and paid ads to papers like The Baltimore Sun, a credible and reliable source by Wikipedia standards. NVR does not respond to press requests for comment, general information, or interviews.
Because of my agenda I know a great deal more about NVR than Wiki will ever publish. I wish that was not true. I have successfully participated in the past, but at this point its better to see Wikipedia fairly discredited rather than pointlessly try to get current accurate and complete information on it.
If someone needs more samples of so called "encyclopedic " links. Informative data you'll never see in an accredited encyclopedia that's currently linked on Wikipedia:

Agenda?
#4Consumer Comment

A sample (one of five) of so called encyclopedic links to information on Wikipedia I object to as advertising on the page link
- There are actually 8 links(and they have been there for several months). It is interesting how you focused on the 1 link of the 5 positive links but totally ignored the other 3. What did the other 4 have to do with? It had to do with when they were founded, hardly a "promotional piece". Oh and what were the other 3 that you totally ignored? It was information about them being sued by the State of Delaware for Fraud. If they write their own press it may be time for them to get a new writer.
I am repeatedly accused of having an agenda in this matter.
- No matter how you want to deny it you do have an agenda. If you were ripped off by them instead of complaining about Wiki(which regardless of what you want to think is not really all that respected IMO) write a RipOff report on YOUR experiences.

Wikipedia explanation

"You don't seem to understand how Wikipedia is supposed to work. The references you object to are called primary sources, and they are perfectly acceptable when sourcing non-controversial information (such as when a company is formed, etc.). They are not "advertising". Putting links to you own website into an article is definitely advertising (in fact, spamming). Another thing that is totally unacceptable is this kind of bullshit. (link to this rip-off report) It clearly demonstrates your reason for editing Wikipedia is to push your agenda. If you don't cease this activity, I intend to report your behavior to administrators. "
A sample (one of five) of so called encyclopedic links to information on Wikipedia I object to as advertising on the page link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NVR,_Inc. Objectionable reference title: Why do business with NVR Mortgage: http://www.nvrmortgage.com/WhyNVRMortgagewhich goes on to explain why buyers should finance through NVR Mortgage, is referenced through Wikipedia.
Yet my information from many victims of why not to use NVR or what reported deceptions to watch out for is "unreliable" or "spam." It can't be properly added, as references are locked. Not withstanding that NVR and its board spent millions manipulating elections and on altering government policies with deregulation of their business interests that may yet bankrupt the United States, using NVR's own hype as encyclopedic information is reprehensible in my opinion.
I am repeatedly accused of having an agenda in this matter. An unpleasant truth is not always an agenda. While NVR can repeatedly lie to customers, I would be sued in a micro second without proof and documentation of my claims. My sources are unreliable either because they are critical or not presented on a well budgeted site. NVR uses blatantly misleading technics to self promote in so called reputable sources. In short, they write their own press as a rule and buy space for so called articles.
The only benefit I may get is letters of thanks for informing consumers, if thats an agenda. Perhaps passionately providing information to consumers to make informed decisions is an agenda. Very few will go through the extreme effort and personal costs it takes to do so, as there is no profit in doing so. NVR has an obvious agenda, and it's usually called a PE statement thats being forwarded by Wikipedia at this time.
Wikipedia knew early on that NVR was a contentious subject from the pages conception, and original plans were to give fair consideration to controversy. Bit by bit that was edited to near non-existence, and the page became formatted and locked to prevent significant changes. NVRs IP is visible in the editing history, however this one editor is solely controlling the content at this point.
This would not matter to me at all, accept many people have grown to respect the information on Wikipedia, as if there is a real verification process of all their data, when many decisions are made by just one person who knows all and cannot be disputed. I cannot correct or privately dispute the issue, thus I am here to at least make it known.
In my opinion, the page mentioned is (at this time) nothing more than clutter in a search engine already crammed with hundreds if not thousands of NVR promotional links that seek to bury a long history of disappointed customers, who were by design not fully informed about their purchase decisions before making a sometimes devastating choice. I can now only wish some else had the courage and determination to fully inform us of ALL the pros and cons before we choosing an NVR product.
