We live out in the country. Internet accessibility is somewhat iffy out here and so I called Direct Tv our television channels provider and asked them if they had internet service available. They gave me a number to a company call Net Sat or something of that nature and so I called and discussed their internet service. For 49.99 a month you can get 10GB of data service? a month. This was told to me..the data service is only affected when you download something.
Ok we don't download much we should be good. Internet speed should be around 5 -10 mps which we had 5 before and it was good. So I schedule an appt. for setup. The installer tells me the same thing, if you don't download anything your service will last a month. Sounds good to me. Tell him and the lady at the company that we have 2 computers and a PS3 hooked up. Oh no problem, just have my son download whatever between 12 and 5 am then it's free. Yeah right. We had service for 8 days then the speed dropped down to worse that dialup.
Called the company, upgraded to a higher service pack and also bumped the bill up close to 100 bucks (I was only paying 39.99 before). We actually got 9 days this package. Had it two months, and this isn't working. So call them to cancel service. In the contract it says if you opt early you have to pay them 15 bucks a month for the remainder of your contract. Well, we figure what the hell, we don't have service now but 15 is better than a hundred just to get rid of it.
Now comes the expensive part. To disconnect they are going to charge us for 23 months after we have already paid for 2 of this 24 month contract and the installer cut all of our cables on the house when he was here so now I have to pay an install fee to our old provider and cable person to fix the cables he cut. They painted our house this June so he thought the cables were old because they were white.
I tell them I want their satelite off the house because I am looking like the satelite queen. Customer service says no problem. Tell them I am 58 years old and scared of heights. No problem. Connect me to tech support to set up appt. for them to come get it. She wants to charge me 125 dollars to get her own equipment. They don't want to be held responsible for their sorry service and equipment.
The guy yesterday morning tells me that we are going to be charged a lump payment for the remaining time for 23 months. He says this amount may or may not be 325 dollars. We only owe for 22 months and at $15 bucks a month that is $335 BUT the guy says he doesn't know what they are going to charge me YET and goes in his aggravating spill of what all it is going to cost me to get rid of their sorry selfs.
I have chest pains from dealing with them all day yesterday and last night. Of course we aren't going to pay them 125 dollars to come get their stuff but they had best send me a big box cause when I have to get someone to get it off the roof..they are going to get all of it.
We had dial up service for 2 months. ATT's offers DSL that is faster. I went back to our old provider cause we can use whatever we want and not set a quota. They knew that this service would not supply us with what we needed and they cannot offer an unlimited plan but can charge you 20 dollars for an extra 2GB as needed which last about a day.
They misled you to get you to sign the contract knowing their service will not supply your demand. And then want more money to get rid of them. Will update after they finally take the last charges out of my account. Also I am sending them the bills from my cables being cut and having to pay to have replaced. 100 dollars down on that one so far. Sucky company.
