Wild Tangent Wildgames HP Wildgames Unauthorized credit card charges, long subscriptions with no way to cancel, no phone support Internet
I purchased an HP desktop computer in late 2007. In early 2008 I clicked on a pre-installed Wildgames icon and played sample games with my 7 year old son. To play more we needed to buy coins. So I went to the Wildtangent website and bought what I thought was a ONE TIME purchase of coins for $6.99. Several months later I looked at my bank statments and realized I was being charges $6.99 every month. The only way this company allows CUSTOMERS to contact them is by e-mail....no phone support (first red flag). Via e-mail I explained that I was not aware it was a subscription but they would not refund the charges. By this time I paid for a full 6 months and tried to cancel throught their web site and could only do so if I bought the remaining coins on a ONE YEAR subscription! They refused to cancel unless I paid this amount - unbelieveable. And once cancelled I couldn't use the coins! When I realized they were going to charge me for another 6 months of coins to officially cancel no matter what then I cancelled my credit card. Present day: I have two new charges on my NEW credit card for wildcoins - both charged within 2 weeks of each other - so its not for a monthly subscription at that interval. I don't know how they got my new credit card number - this is incredibly devious of them and completely un-authorized. I have files a dispute with my bank and have e-mailed Wild Tangent once again asking them to reverse the charges. This is a nerly 2 year saga for buying what I thought was $6.99 worth of coins in early 2008! I suggest HP's management sign up for these games themselves and see what they are promoting. HP's customer retention is being damanged by these weasels at Wild Tangent.
