Early last spring I contacted WCG to collect an account. It was not a lot of money, but we are a small business and every penny counts. The sales rep told me how the process works and I sent in the required paperwork.

I heard nothing and followed up in April, when I was told that the client was getting ready to pay at least part of the debt. I would receive a check in early May.

I received nothing, so I called again at the end of May. I left a voicemail and email. I finally got someone on the phone and she said she's sent me an email but she must have had the wrong address. She said I should expect a check at the end of June.

I called again in July. Left a voice mail. Sent an email, left another voicemail. In August I heard from the client that he had paid WCG $1000 toward his debt in two payments of $600 and $400. I told him to send further payments directly to me. He has since paid his debt, all but that $1000 that WCG has in its own bank account.

I tracked down WCG's CEO Robert Williams through LinkedIn and sent him a note. He replied, saying the firm had received one payment of $300. I would receive my cut at the beginning of October. I just emailed again and got a bounce notice.

WCG's website is still live, so I would advice anyone searching for a collection agency to run like the wind from this bunch of rip-off artists.
