We purchased and had installed carpet for our whole house from Carpet One of Wilmington. The carpet we purchased was from Beaulieu of America and was really thick and plush which was what we wanted. Within a few months  though it was showing lots of wear in spots and all the seams were showing. We contacted Carpet One and they sent out the installer to look at it. He noticed how worn it looked right away and asked if we had a beater bar on our vacuum. He also said that the carpet was pulling away from the backing and it may have to be replaced.
Next the assistant manager and owner came out to look at it and they said nothing was wrong with the carpet and that it just needed to be professionally steamed cleaned and it would go back to looking as it should. So we spent more money on top of the thousands we paid for the carpet and had it cleaned. The guy who cleaned it said that it was not going to help and it appeared to be worn down to the backing in areas. We took this info back to carpet one and they filed a claim with the Mill. It took many calls and visits back to Carpet One but finally an inspector was sent out by the Mill. The inspector rated the carpet a three out of five which five is new or no change and one is severe damage. How in the world he saw it as a three is beyond me because by this time it has been months and the carpet is looking worse and worse and it is suppose to have a twenty year wear warranty.
Anyway a three is satisfactory to the Mill so they denied the claim and all Carpet One could say is that we have to take it up with the Mill. We did not purchase from the Mill we purchased from Carpet One and they have offered nothing when they know the carpet is in horrible condition. Basically we threw away thousands of dollars because the carpet has to be replaced because it looks so bad.
On there website they say if you don't absolutely love your new floor we will replace it for free. What a joke!
