2 Years ago in sept. 2015 then managers JOANNE and her husband TONY told my 87 year old mother and I that they qualified as an assisted living facility through the V.A and that my mother who would be entitled to widows benefeits (if they were truly qualified) COULD COLLECT THEM AND THEY WOULD PAY A PORTION OF UP TO $1400.00 MONTHLY towards here $2600.00 per month rent. they also promised to file the paperwork (through a friend) for free. however, it turns out that they weren't ever qualified as an assisted living facility and i just found out this past monday that my mother's s.s and savings have been paying the rent all along! as soon as i moved her in they began hounding me to do the paperwork so that they could electronically withdraw the $ from her account each month. anytime i'd go to visit  within 5 min. joanne and tony would come knocking on the door hounding me for the $ weeks b4 it was due. i came to find out that though we were self referred they were attempting to collect a 1 months referral fee as their own personal comission.

they did get approximately $1300.00 of it but because i wouldn't allow them access to her acc. they called the police and accused me of stealing her money and adult protective services took over the trust. I WAS FULLY INVESTIGATED AND EXONERATED but then the s**t hit hit the fan! the next time i wen't to visit my mother while i was on the balcony smoking a black and mild cigar they showed up with the police claiming that i was "smoking crushed-up pills which they supposedly saw from 1000 feet away and 3 or 4 stories up! that of course wasn't true but the s**t really hit the because i was infuriated at them and was then ordered off the prperty. there is so much more but the bottom line is that they defrauded my mother through their lies and she now at 90 years of age might have to move to a REAL assisted living center and leave the friends she's made over the past 2.5 years and it's having a terribly adverse effect on her health.

i tried discussing this with a Derek Caracciol who is the regional manager for holiday retirement the entity that owns WINDWARD PALMS. he seemed very simpathetic at 1st and promised to work something out so my mom could stay but has become a GHOST! won't aswer my calls or texts nor does he return any. RICHARD, the on site builing manager was more concerned about fixing a @#*@#%!$%^& toaster than discussing the issue. the quality of the food has declined tremendously, half the time the housekeepers don't show-up and i'm not allwed to visit my mother. i was told the police would b called if i came on the property. this is a criminal act, exploitation os the elderly, fraud as well as willfull intent to defraud which i'm filinbg w the FL. ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, D.C.F ADULT PROCTIVE SERVICES AND DIVISION OF LICENSING. their website still refers to them as independent yet an assisted living center. be very carefull. their only concern is how much $ they can get from the elderly and their families!   Michael L.
