At first Kevin Preble came across as a very nice, professional businessman. He was down to earth and in fact almost a pleasure to work with in the beginning. Things quickly turned however, and unfortunately the entire experience with Mr. Preble and Wine Buyers Purchasing group, his organization, was nothing short of my worst nightmare and I GREATLY REGRET doing business with this man. Things seemed a little odd after we reached an agreed amount for my collection (very low compared to market value) mainly as a result of his ruthless low-balling efforts, and then months passed before he contacted us to move the transaction forward. Then nearly half a year later he said was ready to have the wine shipped and send the funds. Before doing so though he claimed he had made a "terrible miscalculation" when originally valuing the wine and had overestimated its worth. He proceeded to claim that a further reduction in price was necessary and only after numerous unsuccessful attempts to lower the purchase price, did he finally say he would honor his original word. He recommended a company to use for "safe and secure" transaction to make sure neither party was wronged. Well, we soon discovered this was part of his overall modus operandi to swindle innocent folks out of their wine and the money he said he would pay for it. After shipping the wine he claimed it arrived damaged and the value of it was not what he felt was originally represented. His cohorts at the wine storage facility in Northern California aided in corroborating his story and thereby ended up with further aid from the "safe transaction company" getting the wine for the price he came back with when claiming to have miscalculated the estimate before the wine was shipped. We have since discovered much more reputable organizations to deal with for selling wine.
PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND RUN FROM THIS MAN IF YOU COME IN CONTACT. HE WILL RIP YOU OFF, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR WINE AND YOU WILL NOT GET ANYWHERE NEAR THE MONEY FOR IT THAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO. Kevin is very premeditated and calculated in his approach and it's quite clear this is his "norm" for doing business. BE WEARY OF WINE BUYERS CO, WINE BUYERS PURCHASING GROUP, WINE BROKERS AND KEVIN PREBLE AND ANYONE OR ANY BUSINESS ASSOCIATED WITH HIM!!!

I was contacted by Mr. Preble and although he came across as professional he is looking to lowball you and pay less then fair market value for your wine. He failed to make an offer on any of my wines and kept telling me that I should give him my price... Geez he is supposed to be the expert and cannot value wine or is afraid to give a fair market offer. He seems to be only looking for steals!
Just looking at his website which is something a "7th Grader" could put up. Claiming to be the #1 wine buyer since 2008 is a joke! The comments are straight from folks who are completely uneducated about wine - "After my husband died, I didnt know what to do with my wine cellar." Wow she likely got taken to the cleaners... or "I recently inherited an expensive wine collection and I dont drink wine"
My opinion consign your wine with a known internet provider as Mr. Preble is merely looking to undervalue and steal your wine!

I have recently had the experience of working with Kevin Preble and his company as I was selling a large collection of old, rare wine vintages. I found Mr Preble to be very professional, true to his word, and thorough in his dealings with me.
We successfully negotiated, planned the transaction, he submitted payment prior to shipment as promised, and executed the shipment, which he reported receiving in perfect condition with no complaints.
My experience with Mr Preble and Wine Buyers Purchasing Group was very positive, and would not hesitate to use them again.

A transaction has to fall within the parameters that it was set up. In this case it was not. Rather than use a pseudonym, I have my real name and real email address listed here.
The two other companies to which James Pyle (his real name) refers are Safefunds.com, an escrow service that I use to protect both my company's interests and the interests of the seller against unforeseen issues. Safefunds has contracts available and ours is very simple, easy to read and is only a few simple sentences with a few guidelines referring to fill level and label condition. Safefunds has been in business since 1999 and has an excellent reputation as an escrow service. Please feel free to check them out. The other company, Premier shipping, is based out of St Helena, California and has been in business for 27 years and is the primary shipping/inspection company for that region. Again, please feel free to check them out.
The bottom line on this matter is that Mr Pyle, who falsely claimed to have held this collection of very expensive wines for upwards of 20 years, also misrepresented their condition, with a number of the wines having significant label damage that had obviously occurred well in the past. For example, one would think that the "beheading" of poor St Frances on a $1000 bottle of Petrus might be worth disclosing. The pictures and the statements which we have on file and which were provided to Safefunds clearly demonstrate a significant breach of the contract, a contract which any 7th grader could read and understand inside of five minutes.
Mr. Pyle chose not to participate in the arbitration process - he in fact did not respond at any of several requests made by Safefunds to provide documentation. Instead, he refers to himself as "Mr Tee" in this report and states that he is in Chicago vs Texas which is from where the wine was picked up and shipped to California. After a period of several weeks during which Mr Pyle did not respond, Safefunds awarded the claim in our favor.
