I purchased a Groupon for $25 to buy $75 worth of wine from WineInsiders.com.  Initially, I was thrilled.   Then my credit card statement came and I saw I was charged the full price.

I contacted Groupon because they boast about how much they love their customers and want to take care of them.  I received a polite email stating they were sorry this happened and that I should contact Wine Insiders.  I have neither the time nor the inclination to get involved in a prolonged hassle.  I decided simply never do business with with either company again on the tried and true, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me," principle.  Oh, and I also tell this tale of woe to anyone who brings up the word Groupon or wine.

Then an ad came in the mail from Wine Insiders inviting me to be fooled yet again.  This made me very angry and I went on line and Googled for their email address to tell them to remove me from their mailing list. Lo and behold!  I see I am not alone in this scam!  A person or two having a problem with this particular Groupon with Wine Insiders is a mistake, but this many people being ripped off is a calculated scam! And, just as I am only coming forward a month or so later, how many others are out there?

Shame on Wine Insiders and shame on Groupon!
