Complaint Review: Winnie Cain Thai Massage Tour

Winnie Cain Thai Massage Tour Winifred Cain, Hoax, Internet

If you are interested in learning Thai massage by going to Thailand, do NOT do so with Winnie Cain.  Her instruction is terrible and her trip is a rip off.

She is unable to teach basic background, implications and body mechanics of Thai massage.  She is also quick to insult and demean her students in a very unprofessional manner.

The accomodations of the trip are unsafe and extrememly unsanitary (meaning rats in your bedroom).  Also there is no guidance provided or care for the wellbeing of the students.  You can expect to pretty much be abandonded to wander the dangerous streets of Thailand alone and with no idea of where to go.

Also, the trip is way overpriced. The hotels are dirty and in terrible locations and the "tours" provided are awful.

Don't waste your money!!!

I am a professional, licensed massage therapist with 24 years experience in disciplines including Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage. I met Winnie Cain in China in September 1992. I studied Thai massage with her in 1995 and later traveled to Thailand to continue my studies. The body work was developed to be used by people of slight build who have few resources. Clients lie on mats on the floor and therapists move the client and use their own body efficiently to work on them. They treat pain, misalignment of the body and illnesses. I currently teach Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage to students in the Los Angeles area. I also know of Winnie Cain's devotion to the cause of training the Akai women from poor farming villages in a legitimate profession to support themselves and their families. I do not know of any other person or organization doing this work. Winnie Cain does not enrich her bank accounts by conducting trips to Thailand to do this. About 90% of the hard work is the preparation ahead of time, and the shepherding of students and the class time.

I am sorry the person reporting this feels this way. She is obese and had a very difficult time doing Thai massage.  I offered private instruction to teach her ways it would work for her. She declined the offer. I have been teaching since 1994. Please check out my website (www.massagethai.com) for testimonials of past students. They would gladly talk to anyone that would like to ask them any questions concerning me.

The accommodations she is speaking of we never stayed in. We were to stay in a remote Akha village. It is surrounded by rice and corn fields. There are mice there just as there are here in the farmlands of America. She feels the need to turn a mouse into a rat. The students insulted these humble villagers by refusing to stay in their village.

The trip was $2995. It included accommodations.  All of the meals for two weeks and  breakfast the rest of the time. Airfare from LA to Bangkok. Bangkok to Chiang Rai. Chiang Mai to Phuket. All transportation to and from the village. Transportation to Chiang Mai. Transportation to and from the airports. Tours in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.  I will gladly send you the names of the hotels and all of tours. I also taught 60 hours of Thai massage. Please compare on line or with your travel agent what this would cost before you pass judgement on me.

We all walked around the areas at night along with the rest of the tourists. No problem.

Shame on this person. She is such an unhappy and angry person that she feels the need to take it out on a person that gives up their life to help others that are less fortunate.

Please view www.akhawomensfoundaton.com  There are also testimonials from people that had joined me in the past. They also would be delighted to speak to you.

I have been doing fund raising trips since 2000. This trip was a very trying experience but, I will continue my humanitarian work in Thailand despite this person.
