Complaint Review: Winter Auto Repair

the more i look around, the more it seems that people either love or hate chris winters at crazy horse and i gotta say i will NEVER send anyone i know there.. im sure some people are happy - but after all its not rocket science to install
underdrive pulleys and a chip. ive had 2 experiences with this guy, and neither was good. first time he came recomended, second time he was just conviently close to where i broke down. my last trip there he kept my truck for 3 weeks
without even looking at it, as fabricated lie after lie about this and that to get me to keep it there. cost me $70 for a tow, 3 weeks or rental car payments and 1 HUGE pile of bullsh-t on his end.. i have NEVER experienced so many lies
from one person, who is still in business. (maybe thats why his shop operates under about 4 different names) its almost comical what comes out of his mouth sometimes, that i can only figure he assumes anyone that brings their vechile to
his shop is totally clueless when it comes to cars, and he can just play "mother goose" all he wants.

so to try and keep it quick, cause im sure people will wonder. my truck was blowing smoke out the exhausts about an hour away from where i live. AFTER FIRST GOING THERE TO ASK HIM if he could work on a 7.3 diesel, he said it wouldnt be an issue - that he has one of his own, and he was sure he could figure it out. being 2 miles away from where i was leaving my truck, it was convient if he could fix it, and the money i would save from towing it to him, rather than all the way home, would cover some labor costs anyway.. after having a truck that would start and run towed to his shop, it sat
there for 3 weeks with nothing being done to it. first it was "give me a couple days im busy". OK. then it was "i tired to pull it in, and it doesnt start" OK ..then its " the truck wont start for anything, ive looked at everthing and im
stumped - i need a day or two so i can call someone" OK... then its " ive tried everything i can think of, i dont know whats wrong - ive been trying to get in touch with a specialist but im having trouble getting him - give it a couple
days".. OK -- THEN - " i cant get it to run, i got a guy thats a specialist thats gonna come look at it, but hes out of town working on other trucks so it might be a couple days" OK CHIRS.. and mind you its ALWAYS me calling him, 2 days AFTER he said he would look at the truck. I gave him every opportunity he asked for, and was polite everytime.

then i call on a monday, weeks after i first brought it there, at 9 am with the plan that if this guys hasnt done anything, im having the truck removed from his shop. the sect answers - says chris is gonna call u RIGHT back.. 1 pm - call again - no answer. 2 pm. no answer.. 2:30 - chris finally picks up the phone has the b*lls to say - " YA KNOW TO BE HONEST WITH YOU - i havent even walked over to the truck since the fist time you called 2 weeks ago" THIS WAS ALMOST 3 WEEKS INTO IT NOW.. i play calm - say you shoulda called me, you have my only transposrtation hostage for almost 3 weeks now. Chris says - "ok just give me a couple days".. i say no, im having the truck towed out.. 20 MINUTES LATER HE CALLS ME BACK (this is the first time hes called me EVER). SAYS "remember the guy i told you about that ive
been waiting on - to come look at your truck? well he just got back to town today and is coming in first thing tomorrow if you can leave the truck here" like i moron i agree , mainly because im worse off than i was before he got it,
cause now i have a truck that wont even start anymore - OR SO YOU WOULD THINK

i show up UNANNOUNCED at his shop the next morning - 10 minutes after he opened to drop off fuel and oil just in case they needed it. ( truck wont start if the oil is low, its uses almost 5 gallons of it as lubricant and hydraulic fluid to run injectors) i pull in, MY TRUCK ISNT EVEN AT HIS SHOP.. when i ask where it was, Chirs says " oh the guy came and took it already" ALREADY????? for 2 weeks he's been telling me nobody can figure out why it cant start, and within 10 minutes somone came, figured it out, and left????? ok.. gets better.. then he says "ILL CALL YA AS SOON AS I HEAR BACK FROM HIM" ok chirs.. i leave, and out of the corner of my eye as im driving away, I SEE MY TRUCK IN FRONT OF THE BAY OF THE SHOP NEXT DOOR.

ok - so now im really gettin annoyed.. 2 hours later chirs calls me. ( 2nd phone call, its now 3 weeks in) tells me " truck has 2 blown fuel injectors -#5 AND #8 and that UNFORTUNTELY NOBODY SELLS, OR EVEN MAKES REBUILT FUEL INJECTORS FOR A 7.3 MOTOR. i called a shop that ONLY rebuilds injectors to make sure - and they told me NO WAY, its too much pressure. so the only injectors available for your truck are $486 each - and you should really change all 8 !! so it'll be $4,500 for the injectors, which is worth it cause its the same labor rate as just doing to 2."

OOKKKK CHRIS ..... wait.. still gets better.. THENNNN.. he tells me that my altenator is on its way out, cause its throwing off the volatge at the sensors and causing the truck to run rough, so itll be an additional $386 for him to change that too.. so in case u missed this - he just told me the truck is only running on 6 cylinders instead of 8, and THEN tells me that its the altentor thats causing it to run rough.. THANK YOU MOTHER GOOSE.. number 1 - the altenator for my truck is $120, and EVEN IF it was bad, i can literally have my 60 year old mother change it cause its so insanley easy - not to mention that his story is complete B.S.anyway.

number 2 - EVERY DIESEL PLACE ON EARTH - INCLUDING FORD THEMSLESVES, sells rebuilt injectors for a 7.3, or ANY diesel engine for that matter.. i can get ALL 8 INJECTORS rebuilt, with a 5 year, 200,000 mile warranty for $1200 if i send back the cores.. I CAN GET +300HP STAGE 3 injectors for $2,000.... YOU CANT TYPE IN "7.3 INJECTORS" into google without getting 5000 places that sell them rebuilt, AND THIS "MECHANIC" IS TRYING TO GET ME TO SPEND $5,000 + ON A 17 YR OLD TRUCK. factory rebuilt injectors are under $200 each.

needless to say - i call a tow truck, cause im tired of him and his CONSTANT LIES. i ask chris if i need to be there for it,
and he says "yea you should probably come" i goto the shop where my truck actually was ( mind you chris NEVER EVEN TOLD ME THE TRUCK WAS THERE) - and the manager tells me " chris said to talk to you about the fee" FEE???? what F-CKIN fee?? "chris said he was gonna pay us our diagnostic fee this morniing, but just told us a few minutes ago to ask you for the money instead cause he talked to you about it" .. i flipped out saying how ive been waiting 3 weeks for this
truck to be looked at, and for your specialist to get back into nj.. take a wild guess what they say next.. "SPECIALIST? WHAT SPECIALIST?" i tell them chirs has leading me by the nose for last two weeks thats he waitiing on a specialist to
get back in, and when i told him i was gonne remove the truck yesterday, he called me back and said the guy just got back to nj, and would be looking at my truck first thing today....

manager says - look, i have no idea what this guys been telling you and we have nothing to do with any of it. the first time chris asked us to do anything with this truck was this morning. he asked us to start it and check it out, an hour later it was hooked up to the machine. when i asked what it needed to be started.. they said - A JUMP.. A JUMP HE SAID.. i
began to tell them the enitre situation, and they WERE NOT AT ALL HAPPY that chirs was trying to use them as scapegoats in a 3 week long lie.. then they said how to not worry about the fee, they would "have to have a talk with chris about this", and that this was not the first time he did this to them.

15 minutes after i leave - i get a phone call from the owner of the shop next to chris, saying how they were embarassed to have been put in this situation, and that he was embarassed to have a neighboring mechanic like chris next to his
shop. he said that this happens to many times, and to please not associate his business with chirs in anyway. he said if i needed anything to give him a call, and appologized for the entire ordeal again.. now im no expert, but when the
shop next door is calling people to appologize for something YOU did to a customer, and says hes embarassed to work next door to you - there is a real problem..

IF ANYONE THINKS I AM MAKING THIS UP - PLEASE GOTO THE SHOP NEXT TO WINTER AUTO-- OR CRAZY HORSE --OR--- FINGER RADIATOR - OR WHATEVER THE F-CK CHRIS IS CALLING HIS SHOP THIS WEEK CAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE FILE COMPLAINTS ONLINE, - AND ASK THE PEOPLE IN THAT SHOP YOURSELF. the name is either Superior auto or
Champion auto.. go and ask yourself.

THE BEST PART..

had to bring my truck to someone that actually knows how to work on engines, and not just someone that installs cat-backs and pulleys and chips.. i gave them the truck telling them everything that chirs told me. they said injectors would be $175 each if i needed any - and flat out laughed about the altenator.. when they finally looked at the truck - 1 injector was not firing - because the electrical connection was loose.. and all the smoke was from a blown turbo. the oil was
being dumped right down the exhaust. he said it was pretty obvious that when the impeller in a turbo doesnt spin- its usually broken..

so just to remind you guys if anyone actaully read any of this. i asked chirs first, before i brought the truck there, if he wanted it, and if he could fix it.. HE SAID YES he said he had the same truck - so it was "not a big deal" cause he was
familiar with it.he made me wait 3 weeks, feeding me lies the entire time so i wouldnt bring the truck anywhere else.. INSTEAD he could of, at ANY POINT, said listen - i cant keep telling to you to wait while your only car just sits
here, so why dont you just ask the guy next door . his specialist was a total fabrication the 2 weeks of "i dont know whats wrong but it wont even start let alone run anymore" was total BS he tried to stick me with a bill that HE AGREED to pay someone else he "recomended" $5,000 worth of repairs - none or which would have fixed what was wrong with the truck in 3 weeks he only called me, or returned a phone call when i finally said i was having the truck removed
his neighboring shop spent almost 45 min, inside and even after i left via a phone call, telling me how often chris tried to do this to people and gets caught, and that they are tired of him lying to everyone and then dragging them into the mess he created..

i dont care if this guy invented time travel, this is NOT the type of person i want to rely on when i need something done.. im sure he can install pulleys all day (probably why he was trying to sell me on a new altenator)- but nobody needs a "speed shop" to do that. he should have never told me to have my truck towed in.. he should have passed it off to someone else just out of consideration, but instead he thought he was gonna have a good opportunity to make a nice handfull of cash by lying through his teeth. i would have never caught him if i didnt show up unannounced.
spend some time online reading about how he treats people. you WILL find i am not the only one.. there is not ONE PART of this story that is exagerated in any way. another person left a review saying they wouldnt trust chris to fix a
lawnmower.. if someone lies this much to one person whats he tellin everyone else.
