I obtained two cell phones via Wirefly for use with Cingular in late September 2005. The promised rebate of $150 per phone was offered after six months of continued service. I submitted the extensive required materials in late March and received an e-mail acknowledging receipt on April 7, 2006 with a Web address to track the progress of the rebate.

In late May that Web address indicated the check would be mailed on June 21, 2006. The next day I checked again and the online text had reverted back to indicate the rebate was still being processed. On June 6, 2006 I received an e-mail response to an inquiry from Inphonics indicating the material was successfully entered on April 5, 2006, completed processing on May 23, 2006, and would be mailed to me within the next 10-12 weeks. On June 9, 2006 I received an e-mail indicating the rebate had been approved and I would receive one more e-mail on the date the check was mailed.

The online site still indicates the rebate is being processed. If the e-mail of June 9, 2006 is to be believed, I should expect my rebate in early to mid-August. That would be more than 10 months after the initial transaction and nearly five months after submission of the required rebate material. While processing of rebates tends to take some time, this appears to be an unreasonable delay.
