Complaint Review:
Wood Forest National Bank
Friday afternoon I went to the ATM at Wood Forest National Bank there in the Walmart. I requested $120.00 to be withdrawed. The screen read wait while transaction is being processed. I waited and waited, it was takeing several minutes. Then it read that they were having problems and to wait. By then two women from the bank came over and told me that thier systems had been down for the last 20 minutes and that the transaction would cancel out. While I still waited and then I even tried to cancel it but the screen was froze up. THe two women told me it would be fine. I asked if they were sure that my money would not spit out later. They said oh no, were positive it will just cancel out. So I leave and about an hour later I go to a differnt ATM and I was unable to withdraw any money because my account was too low on funds. We look it up and yep Wood Forest took out $120.00 and thier ATM Fees. So I go back to the bank in Walmart and they tell me there is nothing they can do.
To top it all off we were due to go out off town for our anniversary. We had to put everything on a credit card for the whole trip. They told my husband the money would be back by midnight that night but it wasn't. So we called the next day and they told us we had to disbute it with our bank. What? It was not our banks fault!!! Wood Forest's ATM was the one that made the mistake. They also told me that day on the phone that when they balanced out the ATM, that it came out even. That makes me very upset, so what someone walked buy and took the money?? And that is supposed to be who's fault?? Not ours or USAA's. So I am still without the money, our account is over drawn now and we have fees!!!!!!! I still need to pay our babysitter and the dog sitter.

I had a similar situation about a month ago, though it was with my own bank's ATM. In the middle of my withdrawal transaction the machine's operating system crashed and restarted (at least according to the text that was displayed on the screen). The ATM dispensed neither cash nor receipt yet my account was debited the amount of the transaction.
I called my bank's customer service number and filed a disbute and later followed up with a detailed description of what happened writing. In all it took about four days for the bank to issue a provisional credit and about another week to complete the investigation and make the credit final.
It may take a little longer since the ATM was for another bank which I would assume will require a little more investgation time.
Good luck.
