Paid my car insurance for 1 year in advance. Company also offered payments on a monthly basis, charging $ 4 extra per month.

After 87 days I cancelled and asked for a refund. Company sent me a check which was $ 20 off than what I had to get back. No explanation how they calculated the refund, no other document at all other than the check. Sent letter to my agent. No response. Called agent. He told me that he had forwarded my letter to the company. Called company and asked them to explain in writing how they calculated the refund. Even after 2 month nothing. Called again and again. Customer Service told me that they charged a 10% "cancellation fee" which I never agreed to in the contract and which does not make sense: you get punished for paying in advance and for not making monthly payments instead

Workmen's forged the payment stub

#2Author of original report

Tue, January 28, 2003

In the meantime I have gone to court and lost.

Workmen's forged the payment stub I had to submit with my payment and used it as a piece of evidence. I explained that the evidence was fabricated and that I had no chance to proof it because I had to submit it to the insurance company. The court still accepted the "copy" of the payment stub as a piece of evidence- if you sue an insurance company it's almost the same as suing the government- they can produce any kind of evidence and the court will believe them.
