A couple of years ago I was introduced to Angela Palacios and Rafael Martinez, the husband and wife owners of World Bike, an Ecuador tourism company in Quito, Ecuador. I met them during one of my trips to Ecuador through a mutual friend in the same network. Angela Palacios presented herself as a successful and ambitious businesswoman. She introduced me to her family and we became friends.

Soon Angela began asking me if I would invest money into her business. She planned to expand the tourism business to the United States, opening up branches in New York, California, and Florida. She was very persuasive and convinced me to invest a large sum of money as a loan with a high rate of return. She promised to pay me back within six months. Angela took a trip to the United States, supposedly to promote the business and promising that upon her return business would be booming and I would see a return on my investment. Angela boasted that she had a very successful daughter in the United States, Yeanina Oliva, who was running the international business.

By 2009 I still had not been repaid, and I was very concerned. I returned to Ecuador and went to Angela Palacios with my concerns. She convincingly assured me that everything was fine but that she needed to make one more trip to the United States in order to get the money to pay me back. I had no choice but to wait for her to go to the United States.

In early 2010 Angela Palacios took a trip to the U.S. to supposedly tie up loose ends and collect the money from the other branches. Once Angela Palacios was in the U.S. I started receiving frantic calls from Angela and her daughter Yeanina Oliva, stating that Angela been robbed and needed me to send her $3,100 via Western Union immediately. I was very worried for her safety so I sent the money via Western Union. That was the last time I heard from Angela, her daughter Yeanina Oliva, her husband Rafael Martinez, or anyone from World Bike. I called Rafael at World Bike many times and was hung up on, and Angela changed her phone number and refused to answer any of my messages.

I later discovered that Angela Palacios and her daughter Yeanina Oliva were also asking other friends and family members for large sums of money, under the guise of needing it for legal trials and to pay for attorneys. In fact, there were never any court dates; everything was fabricated to get money out of trusting friends and family. I have filed a complaint with the proper authorities in the United States and in doing so I discovered that there was never any attempt to branch out the World Bike Tourism Business in the United States. I have now lost thousands of dollars to this deceitful company run by deceitful people.

I caution anyone in Ecuador against doing business with World Bike / Bike Climb Ecuador, or any other business associated with Angela Palacios, Yeanina Oliva and Rafael Martinez. If you value your time and money, it is best to stay away from these people who will lie with no remorse and take your life savings without hesitation. They are unprofessional at best and at worst are thieves and con artists. There are many good tourism companies in Ecuador but this is not one of them.
