Complaint Review: World Class Marketing

World Class Marketing January 2010 I purchased an item over the phone and accepted a 30 day free trial to receive 20% off on everyday fashions. I remember her saying that I would have to cancel the membership or else I would automatically have a monthly charge to my credit card . Since January of 2010 I have been billed for 2 different shopping account memberships at $37.95 each. I just feel that there has got to be a law that prevents these people from offering trials then automatically billing. I know that it is my own fault for not picking up on this sooner I just don't want this to happen to anybody else. West hartford Connecticut

January 2010 I spoke with a salesperson over the phone to purchase an item.  She offered me a 30 day free trial of a shopping membership which I would receive 20% off on my purchases.  I agreed and was able to save 20% on the item that  I purchased.  I remember that she did tell me that this was a trial membership and that if I did not like it I could cancel it.  She said if I did not cancel it I would be billed automatically.

It makes me sick to my stomach to think that since January of 2010 to January 2015 I have been getting billed $37.95 for not one but 2 shopping accounts.  Evidently I signed up for 2 shopping accounts. I didn't check my statement and I never cancelled my account.

This January I received a letter from a "Simply You" company stating that if I didn't cancel my membership I would get automatically billed to my credit card.  This of course caught my attentioin .  I responded by email and got a confirmation back stating that my membership was in deed cancelled.

I do not recall receiving other letters in past years reminding me about this account. My husband does the bills and this just makes me sick to my stomach.  I don't want other people to go through the same event.

There should be a law prohibiting 30 day free trials over the phone!!!  And then billing them.  People are getting ripped off.

My credit card statement had 2 different transaction descriptions that I was billed for every month

MVQ*SHOPESSENTIALS 877-442-5772 CT   $37.95

MVQ*SIMPLYYOU 888-242-0180 CT   $37.95

When I called these numbers I was informed about the details of my membership that I have had since January 2010.
