World Financial Group ripoff shady career night and recruitment tactics City Of Industry California
This report is an honest review of World Financial Group in the City of Industry California to help those that are being recruited. If you are looking for a career focused on Financial Services, this may not be for you because it is mostly recruitment. It sounds like a pyramid scheme to me, but SEC still thinks its legal.
When they try to recruit they will say that they are from Aegon or Transamerica (both respectable companies). You will not find out their real name until you attend one of their "career nights" where they will hold you for 3.5 hours and there is no escaping.
The whole 'career night' event is staged. While you are waiting for it to start you will be sitting in the waiting area with 4-10 more "job applicants" from different backgrounds (and i mean DIFFERENT backgrounds). Loud music will be playing and you will hear the whole management(recruiters) of 20 people clapping their hands, yelling, etc as if they are in a football team.
Once it starts, you will be in cocktail setting where you will be talking to almost all the 20 recruiters. You will never be left alone because as soon as one recruiter say what he has to say, he will pass you on to another recruiter. If you need to use the restroom, SOMEONE WILL ACCOMPANY YOU TO THE RESTROOM. You cannot escape!!! Its all small talk and nothing to do with financial services but it will last about 45 minutes. Then you will go into a room and hear 3 different people talk about their lives and how it has changed since joining WFG.
Some of the staff for this particular office are total jerks. If you politely say that you are not interested, they will get upset with you as if you wasted their time, when in fact you should be mad that they wasted your time for being there for 3.5 hours with not even water to drink.
Also, you have to pay for your background check which is $100 that same night if you want another interview.
This is my opinion and you can see it for yourself and spend 3.5 hours of your precious time to find out.
