Received a notice that I won $98,000, along with an apparent valid check for $1998.89 to be deposited into my checking account. Called Bank of America, Penscola, Fl. where check was drawn. Account invalid. Letter requested I call a Mary Dorinn in Canada to activate and authorize check. Did not call since I knew it was a scam but will assume she would ask for my account number.

I am not a gullible person but this letter and check look authentic. Do not cash or deposit this check or your bank will be coming after you for the money.

Your first clue should have been the address...
