World Moving & Storage dishonest doesn't honor insurance claims Sherman Oaks California

I contacted World Moving and Storage about a week after the delivery of my things. When I took my hard drive out of the box I noticed pieces of the computer were loose and there was a huge dent on the hard drive. The computer was in no such condition before World Moving and Storage had control of it. I called "EMIL" who has been the person I was in contact during the entire moving process. I explained to him the damage that had been done to my computer. I also had the computer damaged assesed to see if it was worth fixing. The company that evaluated my computer gave me an assement of $535.00 in repairs. Emil the owner of the company sent me a claim form to complete which was completed and sent with pictures of the damage and a copy of the assessment done by the computer store. I sent out the claim form on April 3,2006 Proof of Mail at the Post Office which I do have a copy of the reciept. I decided to follow up on the status of my claim on May 17,2006 since no one bothered to contact me and was informed by "EMIL" that he never recieved it. I have a proof of mail to prove it was mailed to him. Since then nothing has been done about my claim and when I called back again on May 26,2006 to speak with someone above him I was hung up on. I tried calling Emil after being hung up on and he has not returned my phone calls. I also reported them to the Better Business Bureau and he did not respond to any of their request to solve the issue.

Talia, go over their heads and contact their insurance company directly to file the claim. Include the receipt for the letter you mailed them as proof you tried to go throuh WMS.

Just be aware that if you didn't purchase additional insurance, you may be limited to the "basic valuation". This is a psuedo-insruance that reimburses based on the weight of the item, rather than the value of it. It's usually 60 cents per pound.

I hope you're able to get your computer fixed.
