In March of 2007 I entered the dealership with my "check-engine" light on. After replacing the O2 sensors and making one other small repair over several weeks of the light returning (the P0420 code) the dealership replaced the Catalytic Converter with the EXHAUST MANIFOLD COMBO Outlined in their Technical Service Advisory-M.I.L. ON" DTC P0420 dated July of 2004.
At the time of this first report the car had 61,000 miles (I had the car for 30,000 miles at this point). 18 Months later the check-engine light returned and when I returned to the same dealership I was told after diagnosis that the it was the CAT converter that needed to be replaced again (at a cost of $858 because I was not under the 80,000 mile warranty and the warrantied part from 2007 was only covered for a year (though ANY purchase of a CAT converter I would have made would have a minimum of a 5 year warranty (or 50,000 miles!) In addition, according to the Technical Service Advisory issued by the company the ECM is know to have problems and in fact states that if more than 1 calibration is done it can damage the ECM long - term.
It makes no SENSE that ANY car that has under 100,000 miles and has not been diagnosed with any larger engine issues would need two catalytic converters in the space of 2 years (and given that Toyota knows they have recurring issues with the ECM and this part, that they would be installing a part that is only warrantied for one year is AMAZING!
This is the 3rd toyota I have purchased over the last 20 + years and will be my last as the company will not even reach out to explain whether recalibration of a new CAT (purchased and installed elsewhere) might damage the system (if it is not already according to the Service Advisory!)

AND THE MANY OTHERS HERE PROVES THAT Toyota has been purchasing CHEAP PARTS for its vehicles over the past decade or so!
Toyota Corporation went after QUANTITY and neglected to keep its QUALITY where it should have been, which is the reason that their vehicles are now among the WORST in quality in the WORLD!

That would be one POWERFUL T.V. commercial, wouldn't it? That single commercial would be able to get the attention of HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of people all over the world, wouldn't it?
It would also be a new way for companies to advertise and actually spend LESS on T.V. advertising because they would NOT NEED an Ad Agency to do that commercial, right? And the 30 second spot could be reduced to 5 or 10 seconds!
Companies could have 'GOOGLE' become their Ad Agency and ELIMINATE Ad Agencies altogether, right? Why would you need an Ad Agency anymore? Simply drive the masses to the WEB! Company's WEBSITES could be where consumers are driven by a simple, yet effective ad, that could be known as- 'GOOGLE' this-
