I was contacted by telemarketer on June 14th 2007, to use WWV Marketing to rent out my timeshare. I paid $499 up front for "advertising and marketing", but forgot to send them the final paperwork. Today, Dec 18th 2007, I tried to call and find out what info I still needed to send them (they never contacted me), and the number was disconnected.
I did have some concerns in the beginning about the authenticity of the company. The web site did not seem nice enough for a successful company. The telemarketer didn't seem concerned about whether I even had a week available to rent out. Some other companies I personally found online, after paying the up-front advertising fee, had lower fees and looked more professional.
I called and spoke to someone in customer service named Anthony McDermott (ext 153) about my concerns and he reassured me that their guarantee was worth the extra money but told me to contact the sales dept and tell them I had seen the same offer and guarantee advertised for $250 and that they would lower my fee. I never got around to calling the sales dept, so I'm not sure if they would have refunded part of the fee I had paid or if they would have given me the run-around.
Now since I have no way to contact them, my $499 is lost.
