Worldcom Wireless is an outlandish corrupt con-artist ripoff & deceptive fraudulent scam business from hell that abuses & mistreats customers. Nederland, Texas
Shortly after I received my phone, it would not hold a charge. I waited the customary 30 minutes to contact customer service, who sent me new batteries. This did not help, so, after calling several times and a recorind told me to call back when the lines were not busy, I was told to return the phone for repairs, and I would get it back in 10 days to two weeks.
Since my business depends on a working cell phone, I told them that this was unacceptable, that I would not go that long without a phone, to cancel my service, and I would return the phone and all accessories for a refund. The c.s. rep calmly told me that she would send me a shipping label, to return the phone promptly, and my service would be discontinued within several days.
This company does not have any local branches, so I had to deal with them through the 800 number. Had I known this, I would never have done busines with them.
After a month, I had expected to receive a credit on my master card for the returned accessories, and possibly for the charges I had paid on a phone that rarely worked. Instead, I was shocked to receive a bill for $253.41! $200 was a service deactivation charge, $38.27 was taxes, and $14.51 was a monthly access fee, even though my phone had been disconnected the month before Enraged, I called customer service and talked to supervisor Jennifer K at extension 4160, who appeared to be sympathetic, and agreed that I should have been sent a new phone when mine would not work, instead of being told to return it for repairs.
She also said no one at her location had the authority to waive the fees, that I should write to the corporate headquarters in Nederland,Texas, P.O. Box 1178, zip 77627. I did so, on April 30, sending the letter Certified, return receipt requested. I received the receipt, signed by Betty Stratton on May 13,2002. As of this date, I have not received any response. I called this location and left a message, still no response.
Can anyone help me get these scammers off of my back before my credit is ruined?

After reading the comments of a fellow Worldcom ripoff victim, Charles from Atlanta who found Mr. John Polomo at Worldcom, I called Mr. Polomo. Believe it or not, he was polite, respectful, efficient, and best of all, listened to my Worldcom problems and wiped out the $253. for my cancelling my account. I hope other victims read this and try Mr. Polomo. (Now all I have to do is set aside another 30 minutes some day soon to call customer service to verify that my account has been credited!)

Maybe it would make you feel somewhat better, but I heard all over the news this morning that Worldcom was shutting its doors. It seems that they could not make enough (Probally couldn't screw as many people as they'd like) and have lost the battle with their money issues.
