WorldCom Wireless ripoff; unethical; unprofessional; fraudulent; deceitful and dishonest abusive practices and victimized many consumers tricked and lied to us
In September, 2001, I initially responded to the original offer of two Worldcom Wireless phones--$29.99/monthly--120 any-time hours/1,000 off-peak hours. I requested the phones be shipped to my business address; however, before I received them, I was laid off. I received the phones with other office material in November and called to activate them. At the time,I requested credit for the time I did not have the phones and I was told credit would be given and both phones would be put under one account as originally I had requested.
I heard nothing further until I called the company in February. I called several times a day for a week before I finally was able to speak with a CSR, PAULA. (As other complaintants have stated, I was put on hold for upwards of 20 minutes to over an hour; however, I persisted and finally succeeded.) I explained the siutation to PAULA and requested that a copy of my contract together with a bill be faxed to me at my law office (I am a paralegal); but PAULA said she did not have fax capability; but she would be glad to mail the requested information. In the interim, when I asked the amount of money owed after the credit for non-use, etc., she told me I only owed $13.01 for both phones which had been placed under one account--954/383-6012. I asked when the billing cycle would drop again and she said the cycle was from the 13th - the 12th; and that I owed nothing other than the $13.01 and "wait until you receive the March bill the end of next month." I confirmed the new mailing office address of the law firm and did as she said--I paid the $13.01 and waited for the March bill.
On returning home last Thursday,I picked up a voice mail, "...imperative you contact us immediately, your account is in collections." I could not hear the account number; however, I did clarify the phone number. Last Friday I called and spoke with STEVE who very rudely informed me "both my accounts were in collections" and... I owed a total of over $486, I was flabbergasted and expressed my concern. I informed him of my conversation with PAULA; he implied I was lying and threatened to turn me over to the credit union if payment was not immediately made. I requested faxed copies of both my contracts and the alleged past-due bills and he stated he did not have fax capabilities. I then requested to speak with a CSR and held the line for over 45 minutes.
After a futile conversation with the CSR, she finally agreed to credit one account $80 --join both accounts together (which had never been done) and still was adamant that I owed over $400 because I had exceeded the monthly use time for Nov-Dec; Dec-Jan; and Jan-Feb. I asked her if that were the case, why had I not received 1) a copy of my contract (as promised); and 2) a copy of the alleged bills; and 3) why was I told I only owed $13.01 as of Feb 11, 2002.
She said she could not answer for others, but she would be glad to discuss updating my phone time since "obviously, you are exceeding your contracted amount...$.40/call over the contracted amount (120 minutes) in Nov-Dec;, etc., etc. I asked for an explanation of the choices and she put me on hold for another 30 min. She gave me a verbal explanation -- pay more $$, get more talk time, etc., etc. I requested a copy of the "choices" be faxed, or e-mailed or mailed; and I was told, nothing could be put in writing; but she would agree to change my contract according to my new choice. I told her I still had not received
a copy of my original contract nor any bills since service was activated and I was very angry with the lack of professionalism, etc., etc.
It was not until I heard several other associates complaining along similar lines that I decided to file this written complaint. Then, when I read the numerous other complaints filed herein, my worst fears were confirmed. I do not know what next step I need to take, but I am an active warrior for justice and I am willing to do what is necessary to destroy evil of this nature.
As a country--as a world, I believe we need to stand together against the terrorists--whether they be wolves in sheep's clothing, or clearly seen as ravenous creatures. Any help in righting the wrong done to my husband and me in this matter would be gratefully appreciated. NHim
