Worldwide Travel Center Vacation Certificate Hotel Certificate SCAM!! Deerfield Beach Florida
I got a 3 day 2 night (90 destinations) Travel Certificate issued by www.worldwidetravelcenter.com and was originally very excited about this offer of 3 day 2 night notel stay at all these seemingly fabulous places. However, it turned out to be a most memoral and aweful vacation scam that I ever bumped into. I carefully read all their restrictions and followed their procedures. They require you to call prior to sending the certificate for redemption, I did accordingly. It was late June, and the representative told me that there's hotel availability in Sept for me to redeem my certificate but I have to mail in the certificate.
That's reasonable, so I promptly sent in the paperwork with the check of $50 refundable deposit they required. Two weeks later, I got the certificate returned, saying that I have to actually write a statement authorizing them to charge my credit card for the refundable deposit. Mmmm. okay, I did accordingly again and sent the certificate back to them with the additional $3 submittion fee they required. Guess what, two weeks later, I got rejected again saying that there's no hotel availability. Okay, I called them again and the representative refuse to make any reservation on line or through any other reasonable means other than mail in the certificate again with $3 resubmition fee and do the guessing process again. By then it's already August, and without my reservation confirmed, my September vacation is pretty much in ruin unless I book with another agency.
So I said to myself, okay, I'll try for a October travel dates then, guess what, after I mailed in the certificate for the 3rd time, it got rejected again, saying there's no availability, I called and called worldwidetravel center, tried to talk to their managers, no use, they hang up on you and insisted that you have to mail in the certificate for reservation. They won't even tell you among the 90+ destinations they claimed that you can choose from, what is actually available. I finally submitted my certificate again for the 4TH TIME!!!!! with the $3 processing fee and return postage etc and surely, 3 weeks later, I got the certificate returned again. By then, it's already September. So consumers out there who has gotten these certificates through other marking programs or survey rewards etc, BE VERY VERY CAREFUL. I ended up paying all these re-submittion fees without getting anything and worst of all, wasted the entire two month going back and forth with an aweful travel agency that practically do not have an intent to help you (or even want you) to redeem these certificates they issued. Put it frankly, it was a SCAM!!!!.

Vacation certificates have been around for more than 25 yrs. Companies like Disney, Carnival, Royal Caribbean and many many others have been using management co to sell vacation packages to help fill there vacancies they have on an ongoing basis, they are willing to comp the room and that's why they call them complimentary vacations not free vacations because the taxes or port fees or fuel surcharge have to be paid. Vacation certificates are a viable way for resort co to get people to fill there voids and have people spend money at there restaurant, bar, or souvenir shop. Vacation packages with complimentary vacation certificates were sold originally by resort time share co over 25 yrs ago, when someone did not want to spend 15 20 or even 25 thousand dollars for a time share these vacation packages were sold as an exit package, today many savvy travelers use these packages exclusively to travel and know how to use them unfortunately you did not, the agency you sent the certificate to was not the supplier but the booking agency for the management co or the supplier who was going to make 25 or 50 dollars to book, most certificate have refundable security deposits usually have to be booked by mail only because of the low fee that they make and usually you need to give 3 dates that you want to book at least 30 to mostly 90 days in advance and I'm sorry you had a bad experience but most people do not read the certificate in whole and when they have a problem they want to blame someone else and not them self

Okay, after submitting the reservation form for 5 times, I finally got a confirmation letter from them saying my hotel is booked. So far, I have paid $12 resubmition fee already, but I guess it was still a good deal since my reservation was for a Friday night check in which would cost about total $80 for 2 nights based on their Expedia rate. For those have similar certificates, I would say go ahead if you don't mind all the paper work, if you do, it will soon drive you crazy.
