I saw an ad on www.ikcusa.com for Malti-poo puppies. These are puppies that are pure Maltese on one side, and pure poodle on the other. Mr. Alex Syed contacted me after I inquired about a puppy. His email address was info@ikcusa.com. He requested a $100 deposit to hold the puppy until shipping date could be arranged. We agreed on a date of 3/24/04.

I sent Mr. Syed another $575 using my Paypal account. The 11 week old puppy, weighing only 1 1/2lbs. was put on a very long flight from Ca. to Fl. with two stops! I was outraged that he chose such a flight, but I could do nothing about it. The puppy arrived at 11:30PM at Tampa Int'l after a 10 hour trip. She was quite tired and seemed lethargic, but I assumed it was due to the stress of the flight. Within two days she was clearly not well. She had vomited once and her stools were a yellow color. I made a vet appt. and contacted Mr. Syed.

He insisted it was only stress from the transition to a new home. On 3/28 AM she seemed ill. I took her to an emergency animal clinic. She was seriously ill, they took her into critical care. She died four hours later!! I had a vet bill of $350. I ordered a necropsy, as I wanted to be sure of cause of death. Mr. Syed denied the puppy had been ill. The report indicated the puppy had a 5mm hemorrhagic ulcer, as well as pneumia. Cause of death was listed as :bleeding gastric ulcer. I contacted Mr. Syed and Paypal. He only responded when Paypal threatened to close his account. I forwarded him all copies of reports, he promised to get back to me after his vet looked at them. He never did.

I contacted his vet, Mesa Veterinary Care at 14643 Palmdale Rd. In Victorville, Ca. They denied seeing or speaking to Mr. Syed about the matter. I contacted Mr. Syed and threatened to take him to Small claims court for the total of $1025, which was what I had invested in this puppy. The next day his email was shut down, and his web site was not on. So far he has evaded me. I tried reporting him to the FTC for internet fraud, because not only did my puppy die, but she wasn't a Malti-poo, but some "other" mixed breed!! I paid out $1,025 for a little mutt! Not only did I fall in love with this poor little puppy, but to have her die so horribly only four days after getting her is devastating.

Mr. Syed has done this to others, I am sure. If he was an honest business person, he would have responded and refunded my money. He knew full well he was sending me a mutt, and a sick one at that. He has ripped me off, and I'm sure investigation will show others have also been scammed by this fraud.

Beware the "doodle" breeders!

A malti-poo is in fact a "mutt" and anyone who pays pure-breed prices for these type of dogs is being scammed. Period.

Because there is no genetic lineage tying these two animals together, there is no guarantee as to the results of each breeding, i.e.; each time you breed, you get something different. The people who breed these dogs mislead naive consumers into thinking that they are getting some sort of purebreed dog - you are not.

Furthermore, these breeders exaggerate the benefits of the "doodle" breeds, claiming that they are hypo-allergenic (no such thing), no-shed (again, not true), etc.

Also - any breeder that would sell to an owner, sight unseen and throw their puppy on a plane is not a person to do business with. How did this breeder know that you would take care of the puppy? These people could care less, all they want is your money.

Please, if you must have a purebreed - utilize a reputable breed rescue or look at your local shelter. If nothing else - do your homework! Don't be swayed by a cute fuzzy face you see on a website, and think about what kinds of people make a living selling animals. Good luck next time.

I too bought a puppy from ikusa.com

First off I wanted to let you know that I understand your pain. I bought a "poodle puppy" from ikcusa in January 2004. My puppy has sooo many problems. #1 SCABIES, #2 Genetic behavioral problems both requiring on-going treatment.
The Scabies seems to be under control for now but the destructive behavioral problems requires one on one training for a long time most likely for the rest of her life!

Although Mr. Sayed did not offer to repay you or give you a new puppy. He did after about 6 e-mails politely agree to "exchange" my puppy for a new puppy from the same breeder. Mind you that he agreed to the exchange her 4 months later... I asked myself at the time how could any person give back a dog after four months of time, labor, and money? Not only that, but why would anyone after having so many problems with one dog exchange a problematic dog for a new problematic dog from the same destructive breeder? Note: he did not however agree to re-pay my vet and my training bills wich were at that time just about $600.00!!

Not only did the puppy I purchsed from ikcusa have Scabies and Behavioral Problems the puppy I purchsed from Alex was supposed to be a teacup poodle a rare phantom breed. Well, as most people know poodles are grouped into 3 categories
Toys under 10inches and under 10lbs - Miniature 10 pds or more and Standard andything above 40.
There is also those tiny poodles in the Toy Group that are nicknamed T-Cup wich is supposed to be 4lbs or under.

My dog to this date is 15 inches in height and just about 14 pounds at 5 months. That is a miniature.... Not what I was promised. My Vet even informed me that my poodle was not a poodle but a mix of different toy breeds.

My puppy does not look anything like a poodle no characteristics what so ever. When I confronted Mr Sayed about the differences in weight between a teacup and a miniature he informed me he was not a breeder and not really knowledgable about the breed, he only goes on what the breeder tells him at the time the puppies are either shipped to him or picked up. If you remember on his website all of his puppies wether they were teacup, tiny toy , or toy they were all 1 pound to 1.5 pounds.

He informed me that he estimated the puppies weight, I then informed him he needed to invest in a scale. The website as you mentioned is shut down, his e-mail is now shut down also but I know he is still selling puppies. Maybe not as himself but I notice his m.o. in certain advertisements and I think I have found his new site. I do not want to list it in fear that he will read this and change it again.

Everyone buying poodles, maltipoos, and maltese puppies from California should beware of anyone selling out of Victorville. Also be aware that he lists all his dogs on his website at 1 pd or 1.5 pds on the tag line under (description) right under the photo of the pup once you click on the thumbnail you will see this description. Remember he sells mostly poodles and maltipoos. He may not use his name now, he may use a girls name Grace Castillo that is the name on my "Health Guarantee" she sells puppies out of Riverside Address even though we picked puppy up out of Victorville. Goodluck.

I had a similar situation with my Princess. I paid 350. for a malti-poo that died 32 hour after I picked her up. Here check out my report. http://www.ripoffreport.com/view.asp?id=88218
You should search on the internet puppy lemon law and put the state where your puppy came from. It will help you leagaly. We have one here in Florida it may apply to you. It would give you the right for a refund. Let me know how it works out for you.
