I got a letter from a local car dealer (who I will not mention in this report since they may be ignorant) saying that I won a $1,000 online shopping spree (this after doing a scratch-off card which made it look like I was the only one who won this crap). Although it didn't cost me anything in time or aggravation, I did go to claim the prize and was told there was a nominal fee for shipping and tax. Not a problem, I thought.
It was only after I checked out the Web site and realized that everything looked sort of crappy that I thought this may be a real scam. I did find other testimonials from people who had paid as much as $400 in shipping (meanwhile there isn't even $200 worth of merchandise on this site... it's all over priced).
Needless to say, I will not bother ordering... however I did track down the marketing company responsible for this using the WHO IS registry. They look very respectable and they certainly don't brag about this on their web page. It's companies like this, more than the auto dealers (since they were probably conned too) who should be shot like egg sucking dogs.
