www.zazzle.com accepted an order I placed for a Barry Manilow t-shirt and agreed to expedite the order for my daughter's birthday. I did not receive confirmation that the gift was shipped, so logged onto the site a few days later to see if I could get enought information to track the package. What I found was the order had been canceled. I sent a message to find out why the order was canceled and why wasn't I notified, but got back a canned message that I pasted for your viewing pleasure below. After I got the message explaining that the item up for sale can no longer be sold due to copyright laws, I wrote another letter to www.zazzle.com to find out why the item was still online FOR SALE if it can not be sold. I haven't heard back from them but are any of us surprised. Save yourself a lot of hassle, do not buy ANYTHING from www.zazzle.com. The company and its policies are unscrupulous at the very least.

I'm wondering if zazzle.com just puts up an online storefront to shuffle valid credit cards throught their 'back door'. Luckily I paid with my Discover Card and have Online Shopping Fraud Protection. Discover is already aware of zazzle.com and their unscrupulous method of dealing with consumers

I contacted zazzle.com Customer Support to find out why the order had been canceled only to get a message back that read as follows:

Unfortunately, your order has been cancelled because it contains content that is in violation of United States copyright and/or trademark laws. Specifically, your order contains a product(s) with a copyright-protected image of Barry Manilow. No funds will be charged to your credit card for this order.

Generally speaking, we cannot fulfill any orders containing a copyright or trademark protected title, name, or image. Examples of infringing material include:
--pictures or names of celebrities;
--names of characters from books, films, or television shows;
--titles of books, feature films, television shows, or magazines;
--images from films, television shows, video games or the Internet.

More information on these policies is available at: http://www.zazzle.com/create/help/copyright.asp.

Although your order will be cancelled, you are welcome to place a new order with us so long as the protected content is not present in any of the products you request. You might want to check to see if the image you were trying to use is available from one of the Zazzle Special Collections partners on our site, including Disney, Harvey Entertainment, Twentieth Century Foxs Family Guy, and more at http://www.zazzle.com/collections/default.asp.

If you are in fact the owner of the protected content, or if you otherwise retain a license or right to produce the protected content, please respond to this email with notice of this fact, and we will be happy to produce your order as quickly as possible.

All that and all they had to do was take the item off of their online store. As of the time I'm sending in this complaint, the "Barry Manilow Friggin' Rocks' shirts are still up for sale on the zazzle.com website.

And no, I'm not a Manilow fan; the shirt was a gag birthday gift for my daughter who now won't be getting anything more than flowers because that's all I can get delivered to her on such short notice. Sad, but true...

That's just copyright law

It doesn't sound like you were actually ripped off.

Most anything dealing with a person's image needs to be licensed. Otherwise, people would be able to profit off others without them having a say. It's one thing to make something like this yourself by your own efforts, but once it involves money, the FTC gets involved.

(As of this writing, the item was removed. Chances are that the copyright issue prevented any sale.)

I can't think of a single reason I would want lawyers showing up at my door over anything happening at a birthday party.

I ordered a product from www.zazzle.com and I did not pay extra for faster delivery and I recieved my product within 6 days and they sent me two of the same items.  I called them to see if I had been charged twice because my bank statement only showed once.  They told me that they only charged me once and that it was their fault that I was mailed two of the same items and they told me to keep it and that I would not be charged.  I offered to pay because I had an extra one but they told me "it's our mistake so you enjoy."  So my experience with them was great!  I am sorry yours wasn't.

Zazzle.com Is An Online Shopping Scam!

zazzle.com accepted an order I placed for a Barry Manilow t-shirt and agreed to expedite the order as a gift I needed shipped out ASAP for my daughter's birthday.

I did not receive confirmation that the gift was shipped, so I logged onto the site a few days later to see if I could get enough information to track the package. What I found was the order had been canceled.

I sent a Customer Support message to find out why the order was canceled and why wasn't I at least notified, but got back a canned message that I pasted below for your viewing pleasure below.

After I got the message explaining that the item up for sale can no longer be sold due to copyright laws, I wrote another letter to zazzle.com to find out why the item was still online via zazzle.com and up FOR SALE if it can't legally be sold.

I haven't heard back from them but are any of us really surprised?

Save yourself the hassle and do not buy ANYTHING from www.zazzle.com. The company and its policies are unscrupulous at the very least.

I'm wondering if zazzle.com just puts up an online storefront to shuffle valid credit cards through their 'back door' for some unsavory reasons.

Luckily I paid with my Discover Card and have Online Shopping Fraud Protection. Discover is already aware of zazzle.com and their unscrupulous method of dealing with consumers. If they charge the card and enough people come forward the fraud experts could probably have enough grounds to close this place tomorrow.
