TRAVELERS BEWARE: I received an unsolicited fax (spam) from Corporate Travel (a.k.a. Wynpoints Resort Rentals Inc.) offering all-inclusive hotel accommodations at resorts for "80% off retail.” I took a chance on the company because I was desperate for a deal on an upcoming trip. Bottom Line: Corporate Travel never booked and confirmed my accommodations, and then refused to refund my payment.

In an effort to confirm my hotel, I called the resort directly and discovered that although Corporate Travel gave me a confirmation number for my accommodations, it was never sent to the resort and the resort never issued a reservation number (per the resort). The resort was over booked and would not honor the Corporate Travel reservation. (NOTE: Regarding my payment, the company insisted it be in the form of an electronic check instead of a credit card.

Red Flag: This removed the consumer protection credit cards provide to dispute the charges.) The company has a deceitful way to keep the money it receives even if it fails to provide a requested booking. Customers are asked to initial and sign a "Terms and Conditions/Refund Policy,” which restricts the ability to receive a refund. But there is one particular sentence in the agreement that potential customers should be aware of.

It states "I agree to the Terms and Conditions listed on this receipt and "on the company website.” A page on the website states "The resorts have the option to cancel customers’ reservations at any time for any reason. If your reservation is canceled for any reason including over bookings you cannot hold Wynpoints Resorts Rentals Inc. liable for any loses…In the event your reservations are canceled or over booked you will be subjected to switch destinations or reschedule your vacation for a separate time in the two year period no exceptions!”

(Interestingly, the company purposefully does not include this language in the agreement you are asked to initial and sign, but instead hides it on a web page.) If you choose to do business with a company like this, have at it at your own potential peril. I, on the other hand, have written them off as con artists.
