X S Wares took my $900.00 and went out of buisness! Calgary Alberta

On January 26, 2008, I ordered several items from X S Wares located in Deerfoot Mall in Calgary 901-64 Ave NE. The sales rep was Rose Morton who held the title of manager.

My total came to $1958.00. One of the items purchased was a table and chairs which are custom made and needed to be ordered. I was told I could put 10% down and pay the remainder once my order was in. The other items, a coffee table, 4 ottomans and a mirror were all in stock and displayed on the floor at the time of purchase. Rose agreed to put a SOLD sign on those items and hold them for me until the table came in. Since I was not yet moved in to my new home, I thought this was a good idea...

I paid $900.00 cash right away and understood that the balance of $1,058.00 would be due once I picked all up my items. Yes, I paid in cash...

On or around February 20th, I called the store to find out the status of my order. There was no answer each time I called, so I went to the store in person. The store was closed and there was a letter posted to call a new number (which I no longer have) because they were in the process of moving. I called the new number and received a voicemail with a female voice stating that the store had to move suddenly and they were searching for a new location. The message clearly stated that all previously placed orders would still be honoured, to leave a message and someone would get back to us as soon as possible. I left several messages but received no call back.

On or around March 5th, I called back and got the same answering service. This time, the voicemail was full. I called countless times after that and the voicemail was still full. Around March 20th, I called again and the number had been disconnected.

Needless to say, I have not received any of my items and of course, no refund of my deposit.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they have been unsuccessful in reaching anyone from this company.

I realize that this company has obviously gone out of business, however I'm hoping to find someone out there who may have some more information for me about X S Wares so I can get my money back!
