X-Treme Scooters Poor quality product failed within a few uses Address Not Listed On Site Address not listed on site
I purchased an X-Treme Scooters underwater scooter model X-151. It was used twice in the ocean for snorkling and a few times in pools. Living in NJ, not much time exists for time in the water. Underwater limits were never exceeded and it was used perhaps 15 times total.
Water evidently leaked past a seal at the propeller to flood the unit controller and ruin it. The user serviceable battery compartment was always dry, with some water entering past the front seal the obvious source of failure.
I called the company only to be told "read your warranty." They warranty their product for only 30 days so refused to do anything to repair the item. I then attempted to get information from their service and parts department but found requests unanswered. 5 or more emails asking for repair assistance was ignored. I might be able to buy parts and repair it if they had disassembly instructions, but they do not.
It seems like a nice product at first but is a piece of junk. Look around for anything else if you have any interest in an underwater scooter. If you buy one from X-Treme Scooters, figure you will get about 30 days out of it before it self-destructs, which is evidently what they calculate. I would not have bought it if I had seen the 30 day warranty, as it basically defines a product even the manufacturer recognizes as junk.
I would imagine their other products are similarly poor quality.
