Complaint Review: X2gen

I purchased a 19" X2gen monitor through Mac Mall on June 2, 2006. The cost was $229.99, less a $50 + added $40 bonus rebate from X2gen, for their CWS-Memorial Day Mania II Rebates Promo. I carefully followed all of the steps for submitting the rebate (i.e., cut the Model & S/N UPC codes from box and taped it to the form, included the original receipt with date of purchase highlighted, enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope, etc.).

I, personally, brought the envelope with the submission info to the post-office to ensure that it had the appropriate amount of postage. I also made copies of everything that was submitted. The instructions on the rebate form say to contact X2gen by phone or email if you have not received your rebate within 12 weeks. After 13 weeks, I did this and was directed to a rather anonymous website: www.rebatesystems.com

When I entered my information in the 'search for your rebate' page, the result was that no record was found. I have corresponded with rebatesystems.com several times (via their online form). They claim that my rebate submission was lost in the mail and because I did not send it via certified mail they will not honor it.
