Xbox Live Billing shut off service, cheated me out of a years subscription Internet

Just over a month before my subscription expired I added a years subscription by buying a card through Electronics Boutique. A month later my subscription "expired" and I received an e-mail notifying me that they were unable to charge my visa as it had expired, and could I please update the information.

I contacted Xbox Live support, and told them the story, apparently I didn't add the subscription card in time (apparently 34 days notice isn't enough). There was a $79.99 charge that had to be paid before they would reinstate my service, I asked if the subscription card could be used to pay that off, and they replied that they were unable to tell me if the card had been added because my subscription had been cut off, and until I have paid the $79.99 they could not access my account. So in essence I paid for a year, but I apparently didn't pay in time, and then they couldn't tell me whether or not I paid them till I paid them again.
