We hired XHTML Junkies through Elance back in May of 2014 to perform a shopping cart conversion.  They appeared to have 5 start ratings through Elance.com and gave a nice proposal so after interviewing several developers we chose them.  They promised they would complete the work in 4-5 weeks.  After 8 weeks and the work not even half completed, we started to get concerned.  They made multiple excuses throughout the first 8 weeks, "sick family members"  "poor internet connection" "holidays" etc... Yet they would continue to ask to be paid in "milestones" through Elance.  An Indian person with a fake name "Shawn Anderson" would skype me and email me daily to communicate on the project status.  I would continue to explain of all these delays and then he wuld mke promises that the issues would be resolved immediately, but nothing would ever get done.  The "developer" whose name was Sarvesh would tell us the portion of the work was completed, yet when we went to check it, we found errors everywhere.  When we questioned them, they would apologize again and promise to fix it.

It became so frustrating.  After paying out over $2,300 in 4 months we had enough.  We demanded that the job be completed in 5 days or we would terminate the agreement.  Well in 5 days they claimed the work was completed.  Again when we went to check it, there were so many errors, we felt we had truly been taken advantage of.

Just to give you an example of the unbelievably poor quality of work:  when we asked them to import our customer database into the new shopping cart - they erroneously imported the customer name into the address field, the address into the zip code field, the phone number into the address 2 field.  Completely incorrect and terrible work.

We filed a dispute through Elance who we thought would clearly see these issues and issue us a full refund, however it appears that Elance does not side with buyers and is only interested in receiving their fees.  We have contacted a law firm and will be proceeding with leag action for the monies lost, damages, and attorney fees which has now exceeded over $15,000.

We would highly warn anyone considering doing business with company as their are better companies out there.  We would also not recommend using Elance to find a developer as they clearly do not protect the buyers.

As everyone knows about Elance, which is a secure Freelancing platform, we have won this project on Elance and set the milestone as any other team/freelancer will do. We started the work on approval and started to work. We completed the first, second and third milestone on time. We got delayed to complete the fourth one due to our client as he has not provided the require details to execute the final milestone task. We have asked him for the details many times and when we received the details, we have finished it and give him final delivery on Elance.

After final delivery, he put dispute and give reason that we did not complete his work on time. But the actual reason for delay was not getting required details from client side. Client applied for refund on Elance and we defended with facts & gave all the evidence of our work and reason for the delay of work to the Elance but client was not able to produce enough required evidence.

Finally Elance supported us and we got our money back. We would like to provide best solution and services to all of our clients. We never wanted have any dispute with our clients. For any project to be successful, both the parties (employer and the freelancer team) must have proper communication and coordination.
