On November 8, 2007 I took my car for an oil change at XpressLube (8100 Lampson Ave., Garden Grove, Ca. 92841).

Upon arrival I was given a written quote for $ 24.99, which is their advertised special, and the reason why I went there.

When the oil change was finished, and went to pay, I was given a bill for $29.99 plus tax.
I pointed to the clerk that their advertised special says $24.99.

He said that the special only applies to four cylinder cars. However, he could not show where that disclaimer was posted. I checked the banners and the printed material, and nowhere did it state that the special was only for four cylinder cars. Hes only answer was, Thats the Way It Is.

Being on my way to work, I was not able to stay and argue the point.

It is sad that XpressLube uses a bait & switch tactic for a few extra dollars, and lose a customer at the same time.

Thank you for taking the time to contact Chevron regarding the price that you were charged for oil change to your vehicle at the Xpress Lube service station.



Unfortunately, we are not able to credit your account for the oil change for which you believe that you were overcharged. Our records indicate that a FGR Corporation retailer, doing business as Service Distributing owns the station. Chevron cannot interfere with the pricing policies of stations owned by independent dealers.



Chevron Corporation does not own or operate any service stations that sell tires, batteries, and other automotive accessories, nor does Chevron warrant the automotive parts or workmanship provided by independently owned facilities that offer automotive repair and smog inspections; therefore, we cannot assume liability for an unsatisfactory repair.



As a courtesy, we have forwarded your letter to the station owner for him to review and determine whether to offer any reimbursement. Should you wish to contact the owner, you can call the station at 714 373 4432.



We realize that you may find this news to be disappointing; however, we hope that you will understand our position. We want to thank you for taking time to write to us and we look forward to serving you in the years ahead!
